The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I think they changed the music for commercial television.

I don't think you'd like the music, Rosie....

Tons and tons of hikes. I'd have done one if I hadn't been alone. I did get a couple short walks to the top of ridges and such - but four hundred feet, uphill at altitude, is quite a workout!

When you come out, we'll have to spend at least a day in Fort Collins before heading up the mountain, it's just so much of a change you're really not able to make it without gradual adjustment.

Any chance of seeing cute student again? ;-)

Random tourists. There were tons of them, so I asked a different one each place I stopped. I was really glad there were so many people, made me feel comfortable getting out and walking around.

The others are my own amateur efforts.

And I forgot to say, I took the day off and had chocolate snacks. Perfect day...

Maybe. There's a bit of a story there...remember we're playing for a benefit concert at a church in a few weeks? Or this coming weekend, rather - yikes! We're doing one set, and then there's another guy who's doing a set after us. I've never met him and knew nothing about him, but have heard his name since he's playing on the same billing, so to speak. And this guy had the same name. I blurted out something dumb like "Oh, you play guitar!", and he said no, that wasn't him, it was his dad. And I explained that we're playing at a concert that he's playing part of, or that's what I MEANT to explain. Came out a bit jumbled. *sigh* I think all he got out of what I said is that we're somehow involved with music ministry, which isn't really the case, but oh well.

They're Baptist, so doesn't do me much good anyway...

"Attractive non-traditional student" is not very descriptive, or explanatory! Give more details, please!

I was bad dietwise today, 'cause I had to be there at seven and then there were snacks around all day. Plus someone came up and handed me a popsicle and walked away. My throat was raw from talking and I didn't wanna just throw it away, so...minor treat! But oh, it was sooo good at the time. My throat is still scratchy...that really helped me keep going for a bit, though.

About thirty, short dark hair and glasses, medium height and build, well dressed (as in nice and neat), very nice regular features, slight dimples when he smiled.

OK. I noticed a bit too much...

Heh... so we're both guilty...

When you do come visit, it should probably be sometime between May and September, so we can get to these lovely lovely natural wonders. In the winter months it gets tricky.

How much vacation do you get? Maybe we could work something out for Entmoot time - you could fly through Denver and we could drive out, then spend five days or so hanging in Colorado.

Heh...I'm pretty sad, aren't I? Getting het up over a two minute encounter. For all I know, he's married. I didn't get a chance to do the ring check. ;-)

I get a considerable amount of vacation time each year, though next year's gonna be tight 'cause of the wedding. Cash is a harder problem...but may be a bit easier after I pay Van-sama off in a few months. It isn't a HUGH payment every month, but it adds up!

We'll have to see what we could do! I'd love to visit...

Oh, right, forgot about the wedding. I hope your bother isn't inconsiderate enough to plan it during our Entmoot... though you'll know enough in advance that we can move the dates if we need to, I'm sure.

It's in April, so shouldn't be a problem except that it's bound to be pretty close to Entmoot, and I may have to do some begging as far as getting the time off.

I'm mostly worrying about airfare. Hopefully it works out so I can come...I'm a bit nervous.

Wonder if any of us have frequent flier miles that could be donated for a really worthy cause?

I'm also hoping Shootmoot is closer to the June end of May; classes need to be definitely over. I think I know what I'll be doing next summer, and I can get time off, but it needs to be after the semester ends...

Thanks!

I think Entmoot... 07, say, should be a camping trip in the Rockies. We can use my place as a base camp, I ought to even be able to rent camping gear cheap from school.
