The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I know I'd want to repel any bat-sharks that happened to be around.

"But...but...but what about the Bat Utility Belt?"

No fair invoking TV Batman! He can beat anyone by pulling out the corresponding counter from his utility belt. "But what you didn't count on, Mr. Freeze, is that we're wearing our Bat Thermal Underwear!" "Holy Deus ex Machina, Batman!"

So... Wolverine versus Darth Vader, who'd win?

"6th century Latin or Welsh songs (translated, of course!)"

Hmm--isn't that kinda like dubbing? :)

And THANK YOU for taking the time to look at it!! Forgive my shortness. My neice and nephew wanted to me to see a 'kid parade' and they get rather noisy with my daughter. Not easy to concentrate around here!

I coulda used some Bat Thermal Underwear last Febuary. :)

But he does have his bad days now and again: "some days you just can't get rid of a bomb."

What if Vader used the Force to polarize Wolverine's skeleton in opposite directions, causing his body to be torn apart by the magnetic repulsion?

If you like "Seven Samurai"

I also recommend "Sanjuro" and "Rashomon", also by Kurosawa.

Oh, and look for a series of Japanese movies made in the 60s and 70s featuring the character of Zatoichi, the blind swordsman. Very cool.

"Heh, Bear, is Batman useless without his belt? Kenshin would slice that off without disturbing Batman's pretty tights. Then where are we?"

Uh-oh, tell me she didn't go there. . . :) Well, by the same token, what if Batman disarms Kenshin's sword by zapping him with a long-range weapon then? Kenshin's faster, but Batman's bigger and he's wearing body armor. Hmmm--I think this *does* need to be a miniseries. . .

BTW Batman's belt is only his main weapon on the 60s TV show. Real Batman doesn't rely nearly as much on his belt, though of course it gives him a major advantage.

I dunno... Magneto never did that, and he's the Master of Magnetism.

"...like the Bat-Shark Repellent."

One of the most classic Bat-items ever :) That wasn't on his belt, though--he kept that stored in the Batcopter--next to the Bat Anti-Barracuda Repellant if I remember right. . . :)

What, I can't make fun of the Bat-suit? C'mon, you'd know the guy has Issues just looking at him. (of course, Kenshin thinks pink shirts go with red hair)

"Heh, it's a fannish contraction of "Who'd win?""

LOL! Okay, thanks--I need to catch up on my fandom jargon! :)

He should keep it in his Bat Belt....unless the only way he'd encounter shart/barracuda would be if the Batcopter were in the drink.

Heh, just looked up a scene in the graphic novel "Batman: Year One"... Batman's trapped in a burning, collapsing building, when the thermite in his utility belt starts going off and he has to ditch the belt. As he does, he's thinking "Still have the weapons in the cape and boots..."

"So... Wolverine versus Darth Vader, who'd win?"

Even Vader's light saber can't cut through adamantium. First move: Wolverine blocks Vader's saber with one hand and slices his arm off with the other. Vader's only hope is to use the Force to take Wolverine out from long range, but he wouldn't realize the need to do that until it was too late. The result would be like the scene from the Dark Phoenix saga where Wolverine leaps from the ceiling at Harry Leland, the evil mutant whose sole power is the ability to increase his opponent's mass: "Desperately, instinctively, Harry Leland lashes out with his mutant power, increasing Wolverine's mass geometrically as he falls. . .Too late, Leland realizes that that's the last thing he should have done."
