The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

FMA 45 is out in the "raw" form. Time to start the "when the heck will someone subtitle this!" frenzy. I'm really, really hoping someone does it tomorrow... would like an episode to start out the exciting school week.

Have you seen Samurai7 7 and 8 yet? Keep-Anbu and Lunar both have versions out.

I am cooking dinner. Wife is still on her way back from North Carolina. I got back about an hour ago. She took Luke and Nana down yesterday and then stayed to help finish cleaning the house.

THANK THE LORD it is finally done.

I worked there today a total of 2 1/2 hours. Nine months and they couldn't do 2 1/2 hours of work. I drove SIX hours today.

I wore my "it's ludicrous that I'm even here don't even think of pi$$in' me off" face.

You can just take that Dolphin score and stick it up on the screen all season.

Oh, Miami is gonna suck this year ...!

Lucky! Unfortunately, that game isn't being carried nationally.

Both Jets and Colts are looking ok so far... Jets 8, Colts 0 in first quarter.

Pittsburgh is beating the stuffing out of Houston, 21-3.

As a Redskin fan, I at least know how that feels.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

From what I've seen, it at least looks like normal stores will be carrying jeans again that actually come up further than...well, you know. That's a start!

I was trying to think of something better than "church shopping" as I was typing that :) But "hunting" can have the wrong connotation, too--hmmm. . .

It sounds like finding a pastor who can sermonize like your old one will be challenging! I was lucky to find the guy we have now, but unfortunately he just turned 70 and he's retiring soon, so I'm a little anxious about who we'll get after that.

I noticed that was going to be on tonight!--would be watching that if the Pack wasn't on. I liked the part in the ad where John Wayne gets on the liberal reporter's case :) Might turn that on during halftime.

I'm still feeling used and humiliated outta being gypped out of three dollars (well, a bit over that) for a movie rental.

I shouldn't let it get to me. OR I should have made more of a fuss. But I'm not good at making scenes, especially when several employees gang up on me.

*sigh* Hobbits aren't usually good at confrontation, I guess...

A song I heard on one of those zoo morning shows on FM once:

"It's a good day...
For me to kick somebody's a$$...
It's a bad day...
So ya better get offa my back..."

Redskins sound like they're doing well! Packers are up 3-0. They've forced the Saints to punt three times now, which is a relief because last week the defense was struggling.

I'm guessing it's too late now. Otherwise I'd be tempted to send a note. But considering the last time I was there was the time I had the OTHER problem...I should probably just cross them off my list.

But it still rankles.

Go Stillers.

Not that I care about football. But them Steelers do have the most interesting logo in football.

In between training camp and the start of the regular season they usually have about four games where the second-stringers get a chance to compete for first-string spots and decisions are made about who's going to get cut from the team. We're in the second week of that this weekend.

Packers' Darren Sharper intercepted, ran it back for a touchdown--Lambeau Leap time--woohoo! :)

Yeah, but... how good are the Saints this year?

Dallas vs. Oakland just starting here.
