Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Hill and water under sky
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Morning All; amazing August this is. Planting bed cleaning is a month early this year, no matter, actually a bit chilly on the walk with Gypsy.
OT: yep, sip, coffee was especially good this morning.
g'nad; agree, say, you have a .303? May need to bring mine, it's a Martini-Enfield (converted Martini-Henry) .303 is a bit more practical than the 577/450 (and much cheaper to shoot).
Corin; sounds like you got a plan, see ya at the pier. btw, the Aubrey/Maturin series is a great one, you might try Sharpe's series for the land version of that time period. Both series are great reads.

WNeighbor, the things you've talked about, re your biker ministry, have really inspired me. I've felt for a while that I'm called to be a good witness to geeky types - I've always gotten along with nice agnostic geeks, discussing the last Pratchett novel, much better than with the good Christian girls at a church function. And I know I've been a witness to some of my friends in that manner already, because they've said so.
You remind me that even if other Christians don't approve of us hanging out with "sinners" like that, that Jesus does. After all, he went after the same sorts of people, didn't he?

My screen is showing all the pictures really, really badly. But I saw a red shirt, anyway, at one point.
