The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

OK, I'll ask. What the heck is "jump the shark"?

If I'm patient, I'll find some at the thrift store. Trouble is, seems like all the smaller sizes have more petite sized clothes than anything else, and I'm too tall for petite. I went this weekend and tried some things on, but didn't find anything worth taking home.

I have one pair of jeans that are still too small - an old pair I haven't worn in years. I can zip them up and all now (yay me!), but I wouldn't wanna wear 'em all day.

Funny / irritating thing is...from a size number standpoint, they're a "bigger" size than most of what fits me now.

Women's clothing sizes...I just don't get 'em!

Honestly, Jen...I don't believe anything matters to the people who are for John Kerry. They are gonna vote for him NO MATTER WHAT. Either they are old, and have "always voted democrat" or they are of the same character as he is, so they want someone in that won't cause them discomfort.

Or they just hate Bush. Irrational hatred. And we all know where that comes from.

Every maker has different sizes... I'm still figuring it out. I really try to ingore the size and go by how it fits, but that's hard!

What I hate is shirts that come in small/medium/large, etcetera. First off the one that would sort of fit you is never there... on the other hand, 18 months ago I was wearing X-large, and when I went shopping a few weeks ago, I bought mediums.

2J, you're right that a certain segment of lie'brals would vote for Satan himself if he ran as a D (and where else would he run?).

These ads will sway the undecideds. And that's where we win.

Or, they want hand-outs. Oddly enough the university types I know are like that, because, well, we're on the public's dime here. Sure, we give back something for that money, but professors want funding and grad students want assistantships and undergrads don't want their tuition to go up. And they think a Democrat's going to give them more money.

Me, I figure a Republican will get the economy into better shape, so there'll be more money to invest in research. For instance, a certain large computer company (not the one Rose works for) has a branch in town. They just called the department last week and offered to outfit one of our classrooms with top of the line computers, free. The government doesn't have anything to do with that sort of thing.

Exactly sister.

But WE know the end of the REAL story. We've read the back of THAT book. ;-)

Yeah, and the medium / large things drive me crazy. For some, medium might be 10-12 (10 and 12 being arbitrary as well), and for others it might be 8-10 (too small), making the large 12-14 and quite a bit bigger. Grrr...

Sometimes I really wish we just went by inches.

But going from an XL to a medium is great by any standards!

Oh, yeah, it's great. I feel like I just have a bit further to go...

It might be nice weather this afternoon and I can get a walk in. It'd be great to get the diet and exercise coordinated for once...

*breezing by*

and to think at one time I had WANTED to be a college professor!! Growing up I just thought that was the coolest thing! Now I can remember the moments when my parents looked like they were biting their tongues REALLY hard!!! And most of the professors I came to know were real duds in the Help A Student Go Out Into The Real World department.

Have been spending most of the morning posting resumes to local agencise. There is a local position that I am real interested in, but I need to turn in my app and hope for the best. It would be perfect for me, if I got it. Pray for me please!!
