The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

"I've mostly been buying Australian wines lately."

Me, too--started doing that to avoid French wines.

New Zealand for me! But tonight's was Californian, that's why I'm suprised. "Brand" works for me!

My parents gave me a book called "Andrea Immer's 2004 Wine Buying Guide for Everyone". It's wonderful! Rates wines on price, taste, how long they last... has 600 wines listed. If I'm buying wine, I take it.

I'm watching "Monk" and reading a Java book here while I download the episode of Amazing Race I met... tried something similar to your chocolate and nuts confection, I'll tell you if it turns out well.

I should pick up something like that book. I ain't exactly an eddicated wine buyer...I just try things that are on sale and usually kinda alternate red and white, with an occasional rose thrown in.

Considering I rarely spend over ten dollars, if close to that...we aren't talking primo stuff I suppose. But I've found some I like, and I guess that's what matters!

What chocolate and nuts confection would that be?

It involves baker's chocolate, pecans (I know, both have carbs, but not too many) and Splenda to sweeten it. I'm freezing it and when it's done, we'll see.

I highly recommend this guide! It's $13, but I figure it's good for a couple years at least. It keeps me from just buying the cheap wine. I'll spend maybe $12 on a bottle if I know it's really good, and will last for several days.

Might be something I could find used, too.

For the chocolate, yeah, that works pretty well! Still ends up a little bitter, but hey, I like that.

Lately I've been buying 70% type bittersweet chocolate, which has a small enough amount of sugar that I don't worry about it, and I just have one small square at a time...eat it very slowly.

I'm gonna have one more zinc lozengue and then hit the hay. Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow. I ended up leaving work early today 'cause I wasn't at all with it and took a nap this afternoon, but...I don't really want to skip tomorrow if I can help it.

Good evenin' ladies!

The last wine I drank had ice in it that ~didn't~ float! *grin*

I do like a good Shiraz now and again.

I'm not sure that stuff is allowed to be called "wine". It's on-natural, it is.

You can buy Diet-Rite here.

In fact, this website sells all sorts of hard-to-find soda waters ...

They won't thank you if you end up having to take all next week off! Is that when classes start there, too?

CSU has the "school's about to start" feeling. The lots were full of cars today. The big computer lab next to our office got taken over for placement testing (tell me I wasn't that stupid when I was a frosh). The frat boys are moving in to their frat houses...

Actually, IIRC it was pink. But it was truly an unnatural pink. *grin*

I hope you get to feelin' better, sis. Lots of warm tea and honey will fix that throat up quickly! Is honey on the South Beach Diet?

Freshman orientation starts a week from Saturday, so we have a little time, but all the faculty will be back before that, along with certain student groups. It'll be nutty for awhile.

We do placement tests in groups throughout the summer, so that's pretty much all done.

*sigh* Parking is going to be horrid. The whole lot where I park (the faculty / staff parking for my whole building) is torn up for a water line project, and they announced that it's going to take them longer than they thought, probably until well into September. Right NOW, we're parking in student parking and walking a long way to the building. However, when all of THEM return...I dunno what we'll do. That lot is always filled to bursting. Heh...I could ask our drummer if I can park at his house and walk in - he lives a couple miles off campus. That might be as close as I'm gettin'...

Yep, I can have honey, just not a lot of it. Maybe should do that for my caffeine in the morning instead of coffee...

OK, zinc thingie gone. Good night, all!
