The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Penny! Hi! - want information about the JimRob moot on Sunday in Lakewood?

Hi there! Sure, I'd love to have the info! I'm not sure I'll be able to come, but it sure would be a cool get-together, so maybe I can wiggle out of my other obligations...

I had a horrible experience with the number 3 once. It's a long story.

Huh - I've been logging in using the lower right main page link. I tried going through the login page and suddenly I could see the Entmoot forum.

You've only been married for two months and she's got you sleeping on the couch already? Man...

That sounds like a good business. I guess maybe I'll have to learn more about the schmoozing salesman end of it if I want to do that.

"And ~that~, Fedora, is how you do a funkle! ;~D"

That's pretty impressive that you were able to manage a funkle on a Friday night while everyone's still up! :)

~doh~

We should have thought of this sooner.

Would like to present JimRob with a Hobbit Hole knife. I can give him one of ours, since ecurbh and I both have one, but it won't be ~new~

Anything you'd recommend Rick, to retune one of our knives so that it is "winmag factory sharp" like new.... like should I take it to a shop tomorrow and have it sharpened? We'd need it Sunday.

I'm here... sorta... wireless is big trouble. May or may not be able to reply... but I'm around.

I just have to eject my wifi card and re-initialize before I refresh. Other than that... no hassle at all. :-)

Yowsers... good thought.

I don't suppose that your knives are dull enough yet to make that big a difference? Mine is still pretty sharp... I would volunteer it if needed.

Darlin' you've been having wireless problems for months now! Gotta get that fixed one of these days I think. :-)

So, got some good weekend plans - or have you already talked those all out before I got here tonight? I've not have much time to do catch-up work when I get to check in lately. :-)

I just had an amusing experience trying to find out if my library has "Kristin Lavransdatter". I couldn't remember how to spell it and searched under "Kristin Lavrinsdaughter" and "Kristin Lavrinsdatter" and was about to give up when I finally tried "Lavransdatter" :) Whew!--looks like they have it. Says they have a videorecording, too--I didn't realize there was a movie. Also I notice one volume is titled "Kristin Lavransdatter: The Bridal Wreath, The Mistress of Husaby/The Cross" while there are also separate volumes titled "The Bridal Wreath", etc. Is there a certain one I'm supposed to read first?
