Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Hill and water under sky
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Good evenin' Hobbit Hole!
What a day I've had!
Just after lunch, something happened with the phone line at our building and ~everything~ crashed. Phones, internet, server, etc.
Long story short, we sat around all day until 5:30 waiting for it to come back up and finally BellSouth broke it to us.....it won't be fixed until the morning. I don't know what exactly happened, but it cost the company money, so heads are gonna roll somewhere!

Well, if he's gettin' a F150, if the thing that runs that great big belt through it ever gets so hot it glows and then burns up...Steve can fix it!

Ghee (clarified butter oil) is also good. I get a 'raw' grass-fed ghee that is just divine. I put it on veggies. A little goes a long way. It's bright yellow and has lotsa vitamins!
G'nad, this health-nut stuff is associated with birkenstock wearing. ;) (but then co-occurance is not causation)

and that's a problem because?... I'd rather have a truck.
That way when the rear tires spin out because the back end is light I can say, "That's supposed to happen."

er, it's geared too low for my driving habits. Yeah, that's the ticket.
It's miserable on wet roads.

....Ed has a few too many temper tantrums for me. Plus...I just love the depth of Roy's character. He doesn't really say a LOT, but there's so much he's going through. Even in the midst of the corny episode (37), there was that moment when he visits Hughes' widow, and comes back saying "You see, it IS scarier dealing with real people", 'cause he's just at a loss for words. *snif*

It was a royal pain, sis. My manager walked up to me at 4 o'clock and said "We're gonna need you to stay until the systems come back up because those payrolls for --- MUST RUN! Even if it's 8 o'clock!"
Well, what could I say? I just nodded and sent up a silent prayer that the system would come back quickly or that we'd be informed that it wouldn't be up at all. It was answered, thank God!
So afterwards, she walked up and said "We're gonna need you to come in early tomorrow to run those payrolls, OK?" I responded with "I'm sorry, but I have to take my daughter to school and won't be in until 8:30."
*sly grin* It felt SO good to say that. :-)
The stupidest part of the day was when everyone was sitting at their desks playing solitaire and I decided to play with a regular deck of cards I had in my desk. Before you know it, there were 4 of us playing rummy, getting up every few minutes to check the phone line. It was fun for a bit, but the manager didn't like it.
For some strange reason, management doesn't mind you individually wasting time, but when it becomes a group thing, all of the sudden it's an issue. It's THAT kind of stupidity that drives me nuts.

I've done eggplant parmesan and eggplant lasagna, too. I always thought I hated eggplant before SB, 'cause the few times I'd had it as a kid, it was horribly bitter and spongy. But lately I've been having it once a week or so, just about! I really like it.
I want to pick up at least one at the farmer's market this weekend. They have nice, fresh, little bitty ones that would work REALLY well with the breading I used tonight...

And he's handsome, in a dark and brooding way...
On the other hand, I'm rooting for Riza. She's got a major crush going there.
Mmm! Making a big mess of chicken curry. Half tonight, half tomorrow, get more out of my coconut milk!

And he's handsome, in a dark and brooding way... Yep!
Poor Riza...he really depends on her without noticing at all. I'd still like to have her part in the story...but geesh! He doesn't know a good thing when he sees it!
Just about time to go to bed here. Maybe I'll wake up feeling better.
