The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Sigh, you aren't the only "why isn't my diet working right now" person on this thread... I just haven't been on it strictly, that's all.

Good morning! I hate Mondays. My head hurts. Least I don't hafta leave for an hour and a half but I'm taking the bus today.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers during this past weekend. I could tell it was happening. When Charley was heading in to town they were showing the doppler radar and it looked like there was a clear area gouged out of all the worst bands around the Melbourne/Palm Bay area.

We made it through pretty much unscathed. We only lost power for twelve hours from Friday night to Saturday morning. But that's not so bad because it could have been a lot worse. They are saying this is the worst storm to hit the Orlando area in a loooooooooooooong time.

Yep, that's about it. Summer's are tough, I guess. And hanging out with skinny brothers who love junk food doesn't help, either. Not that I've been eating Twinkies or anything, but when they come over to watch movies and snack the whole time, I end up snacking too, and even if it's healthy snacks...it adds up.

But at least I'm walking a lot. That makes me feel better, like I'll be able to do this eventually.

So glad you're OK! I'm still amazed at the FReepers who are saying the storm was overrated. Did they WANT it to be even worse than it was?? Duh...

Sure hope that'll be the worst storm of the season.

The amazing thing, for me, is to realize that the walking I've been doing, I couldn't have done 18 months ago. It's no big deal to walk 3/4 of a mile to the movie store, and then back. But before I started dieting, I got out of breath if I did more than walk from the car to the grocery store.

I am considering walking home from school today, depending on how hot it is and how tired I am.

Yeah, same here...doing a lot more walking than I would have just because it's not a big deal...which means more exercise, which means I'm headed the right direction, anyway.

And I'm really looking forward to snowshoeing this winter! Still looking at shoes, though. I have a pair in mind. Cool thing is...I would have been over the weight limit on them last winter. I don't need such big ones this year. ;-)

Yes, I did! Got 'em Saturday!

I watched some more FMA this weekend. Up into the 30s, but I can't remember which episode! 36?

Woo-hoo! The snowshoe thing is cool!

I hope you like the "other" cookies I sent you... since it'll be a while before you get more FMA, that should help keep you interested.

Is 36 the one with the island?

ksen, did you see the 7th episode of Samurai 7 is subtitled?

Something odd with the animation on this episode, about half the background characters seem... unfinished somehow. It was weird.

I'm tryin' to remember! After watching The Mummy yesterday, I'm kinda mixed up at the moment.

Heh...do you have moments now when watching other stuff when you expect someone to just use alchemy? Like in The Mummy, one guy's glasses get broken. I was thinking it was too bad there weren't any alchemists around to just fix 'em right up for him...

Or maybe how it would be really nice to turn a pile of old computer parts into a working computer by clapping my hands? Yup.

If you've seen "The Mummy", you should definitely see the sequel, and soon because it's a very funny movie. There's about a million references to the first movie and it works out being almost a comedy, but if you don't remember what they're making allusions to, it just seems stupid. Besides, Brendan Fraser is kind of cute!

Maybe we can watch the sequel one evening this week. That and curry might be a good bribe to get lawn mowage...

Oh, I like the way you think!

I'm taking leftover pork curry for lunch today. Dinner tonight is beef stir fry or curry, haven't decided which yet.

I have chili for lunch. Still haven't made curry, but I have pork thawing in the fridge, so...guess what's for dinner?

I also have about two pints of fresh blackberries (we went berry picking yesterday) that I gotta do something with. I'm trying to think if there's any way to make a somewhat healthy cobbler, using Splenda and whole wheat flour. Or I COULD just freeze half and use them slowly with yogurt.

Speaking of diet...I'm in trouble.

My cholesterol a year or so ago was 210. Dr. said he wanted to talk to me about it. I never went back.

Had it checked last week and it's 276. He told me he wants me in right away.

Oh, dear... sounds like you need prayer.

I hope you're not one of those people who can't do Atkins-style dieting.
