The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Wish I would've known "Airplane" was on! I've never seen "Heaven Can Wait"--just remember the ad campaign when it came out being followed by the massive flop at the box office. How is it?

"Heaven Can Wait" was a box office flop? I remember seeing it in the theater. This is the 1978 version with Warren Beatty (a native Richmonder even if he is a communist).

*whew!*

I did it...I finally have the church's website updated and cleaned up. All I have to do now is scan the location map and write up a history for the place...then I'm done.

Who's Warren Beatty (just kidding)

Not a bad pool they've got here! I just wanted to cool off and since my sunscreen went missing somewhere between Wal-Mart and home, I couldn't stay long anyway... I can't swim, but I can float...

Heads up! The raws of Samurai 7 episodes 7 and 8 are out. Subs should be out in a day or two. Yay! That'll help through the week-without-FMA!

Hmm--I'm looking some stuff up now and maybe I'm mixing it up with Heaven's Gate: "The biggest Hollywood flop of the 1980's, Heaven's Gate became synonymous for troubled and overbudget film disasters. .The movie's unprecedented USD$40 million cost literally sent United Artists into bankruptcy and eventually led to its purchase by MGM."

Anyway, I think I saw Heaven Can Wait at a drive-in when it came out, but I didn't really watch it because I was too little to follow it. It was a double-feature following some Disney movie I wanted to see, I think--The Cat from Outer Space or something like that.

Heaven's Gate? Wasn't that the Star Trek Comet Eunuch Suicide Cult a few years back?

I live a thousand miles from the nearest ocean and I get seasick going over bridges. There's no reason for me to be able to swim.

I can stay afloat for long enough for someone to rescue me, if need be...

It was enough to drive one to drink, eh? :) Think I need to watch "Timechasers" to wash it out of my memory. . .

Then of course there's always "TimeBANDITS"

I got the biggest kick out of that show.

Can't decide whether to take a nap or try to get Frodo out of Hobbiton (again). Right now I've got the Royals game on....as if the Cubs aren't bad enough. :)

But what if global warming melts the icecaps and floods the Rockies, then what will you do, huh? :)

Seriesly, this is the main swimming stroke used for survival swimming--it's vey easy:
