The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I hope you didn't fall asleep during the chariot race! :) I actually still haven't seen "Treasure of the Sierra Madre". Let me know how it is.

I've got a couple NaNoWriMo ideas. I've been trying to decide which one to go with. At the moment I'm kind of leaning towards the "Dune"-esque idea I had the other night.

I'm trying out your homemade tortilla recipe today. Just mixed the ingredients together--letting them sit for a half hour now.

Are you kidding? I fell asleep before the Roman dude got conked on the bean with the tile.

Charlton Heston shoulda paid for liability coverage on his homeowners. :)

I still have the Evil Toaster/Pawnshop idea from last year that I never did anything with.

Somehow I have to work in Guido and a dead guy who only wanted a cheap DVD player.

Did you at least get to the part where the astronauts meet the apes for the first time? Oops--wrong Charlton Heston movie. . .

Evil toaster/pawnshop with Guido, eh? Sounds interesting. Hmmm--did you ever read "Thinner"? For some reason that description kind of reminds me of that story.

It's pretty good. It's a story Stephen King wrote as Richard Bachman.

So what are you going to watch today? I was going to watch Boomerang, which usually shows Hanna-Barbera cartoon reruns on Sundays, but this week for the Olympics they're having a "Laff-a-lympics" marathon, and that show always bored me after about half an episode. Need to pick a backup viewing plan.

I was watching the giant grasshoppers until the Cubs game started. I'm not watching anything right now.

Had to go finish making my tortillas after my last post. They turned out good!

I can't believe I've never seen that giant grasshoppers movie. I need to get that one.

How are the Cubs doing?

They're leading the wild card by a game and are leading so far today (7th inning).

Cool. Who are they playing?

And in the Laff-alympics, the Scooby Doobies are leading the Yogi Yahooies 100-80, with the Really Rottens in last place at 50.

Think I'll watch the Olympics after this.

Airplane was just on UPN. Now watching Heaven Can Wait on AMC...

I mean, I'm working. The TV is just for background noise...yeah, sure, that's it...

How did the *attic* adventure go?

Went to church, had lunch, walked to the Blockbuster, picked out new movies. Now I'm gonna check out the pool. Man, I love this weather... this place...

Didn't get much done yesterday. Gotta move stuff down here first. It's a work in progress.
