New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Well, g'night all. Best to you Floridians.
I'm pretty good, thanks! Went to Green Bay today to watch the Packers and buy some comics, just got back a little while ago. Glad to hear it sounds like you're out of the storm's direct path!
LOL! I am such a coward, I would be in no condition to take pictures if we really got any weather. I'll tell you what, next storm that is gonna hit here, we'll trade houses you can take all the pics you want ;-)
Didja have a wedge of cheese on your head?
Deal ;~D
Watching the 11 pm advisory and going to bed. We are now under a tropical storm watch. I'll check in in the morning. Good night!
How about Hurricane: The Imax Experience? That's as close to one of those things as I want to get.
LOL! No, it was just a practice scrimmage, so it wasn't quite formal enough for full cheese attire :) It was funny, though, because there were so many people there it looked almost like a regular season game--close to 30,000 I'd estimate. Most of them couldn't get seats, as it wasn't in Lambeau Field, it was on an adjacent practice field with some bleachers, so it was mostly people standing. A lot of people were also just waiting to get autographs outside the Lambeau Field steps. During practice scrimmages the Packers do a special event for children in the area, where a kid can sign up to ride on a bike with a Packer down from Lambeau to the practice field, so they were doing that, and a lot of people were just standing on the route where that was taking place hoping to get autographs. I got there just as that was ending and saw a few of the team ride by, and then I walked down and stood by the bleachers and watched the practice for a while. It was pretty fun but I couldn't see much. Brett Favre wasn't there unfortunately--I guess he had been at the earlier practice and by the time I got there the backup quarterbacks were practicing.
~~~~~~~~~Advice Sought~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey ecurbh and I have another temporary job opportunity that we are thinking about.... To be door knockers for Dino Rossi (R) for Governor, and the Republican candidates in a couple state legislative districts (not sure exactly where all we'll be sent yet). We wouldn't be working for the the candidates themselves, or the GOP for that matter, but rather the Building Industry of WA. Sonya's husband works for them and is coordinating part of this. We'd do it if we can partner together. I wouldn't want to go door knocking alone.
ecurbh really hates his day job, I am not all that challenged at mine, They are both also temporary, and of course we still have the income from our 'home' jobs. I think it'd be kindof neat..... we get some training on how to approach folks, be doing something hopefully helpful to our collective cause. (Rossi is the best candidate we (R)s have had in a long long time). Would run from now till the election. Who knows if we'd find other opportunities through doing this....
Advice being given:
If you still have some other income stream, and you like the candidate and the people around him, this could be a golden opportunity to establish some contacts. Somehow show them that you are even better at computer stuff than you are knocking on doors. You might wind up doing website or database work, where your talents are better put to use.
This could be a good chance for you to start networking.
What you need is sound recorings.
HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!
I'll try to take a break later on and post a Willie Nelson-Bob Dylan concert review. It was an experience.
That sounds like a great idea for you two! I hope it works out!
Er..."recordings."
Must have coffee.
Morning!
Is it 4:00 yet?
Good morning!!
'S okay.
I'm really getting sick and tired of these Kerry commercials. I wanna see the Swift Boat ad.
Welcome back!
I don't think you've missed anything series, except maybe the box fan thread and the hugh investment blub sale...
Sorry it rained so much! Doin' the same here. Flood warnings all over the place.
Good morning all!
Yesterday, I had two chocolate covered donuts for breakfast and pizza for lunch and dinner.
This morning I woke up nauseated, headache, fingers so swollen my ring won't budge.
Will I never learn?
Hey, Lil...how'd the pickles turn out? Are they done?
Gooood morning! Rain, rain and more rain here. If we get the remnants of Charley (how come they spell it like that?), we're looking at fairly significant flooding near some rivers and streams. I feel sorry for the folks at that Phish concert. The concert isn't until Saturday, but most of 'em are tent camping in a big field. With all the rain, this can't be much fun for 'em!
