The Hobbit Hole XIV - Hill and Water Under Sky

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Hill and water under sky

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Been a crazy day- in the news and in the office. Nothin on TV except the ball game. Maybe I'll go read.

Sounds like a plan!

I'm suddenly tired. Going to eat dinner soon... and look at numbers, no fun. It's too early to be worrying about next year's finances...

Well, yeah. It is nice, but I think my maters would prefer it to be hotter. And you appreciate the cold weather of winter better if you're sick and tired of hot weather.

Just watch. Around January or Febuary I'll probably be griping: "Is it always cold in this place?" :)

Hey ksen, if you find the Fork version of 44, would you give me a link? For some reason I think something may have been badly mistranslated in the S-S version I downloaded.

Oh, yeah, and there's no episode this week!!!!

Heh, true enough, this is so unusual that we're luvin' it. RE: winter, I'll probably allow as it is but it has been colder. :-) "I remember the winter of...".

We're getting our romas but the others are lagging a bit. Just had some romas, basil, a bit of garlic in a cold tomato sauce over some tortolenni. Hmmm.

Gypsy is waiting by door since we're finished with dinner. Gots to git. BBL

Hey there.... I've been a busy little hobbit since I got home, housekeeping.... bought a whole new wardrobe today so I packed a lot of the old stuff out to the Goodwill bin.

So...speakin' of this weather (it's been cooler than usual here this week)...my rhododendron is turning yellow. That prolly because of how much rain we've been getting?

You inspired me... during a break in the storms I walked out and got two shirts on sale. It's "end of season" prices so I got them for $6 each and they're really cute.

I realized that I need a whole new fall wardrobe. I have almost nothing - it didn't fit anymore, so I Goodwill'ed it. Better start shopping thrift stores.... on the other hand I'm interested in wearing much more interesting clothing. Somehow my previous situation failed to inspire my fashion sense.

Yup!

Wow, fantastic storm we're having! Sheets of rain, loads of hail, thunder, it's like sitting next to a train, the wind is so loud. Great evening for sitting with a good thread, spicy taco meat and a nice Sauv Blanc...
