Good idea! Have been reading Johnny Tremain, so have some good ideas. Am less interested in colonial life than what would spur a young man to go there on his own when he has no course of living in England. I am trying to find out more about indentureship and/or apprenticeship in merchants. 'Tremain' has good example of those, but I am hoping to find more concrete information.
"The Lion and the Rose", by Rosemary Weir
"Saturnalia", by Paul Fleischma
"Night Journeys", by Avi
"Encounter at Easton",(sequel to Night Journey) by Avi
"White Sails to China", by Clyde Robert Bulla
(Not sure about this next one, the description reads only; Holland 1757)
"The Matchlock Gun", by Walter Edmonds
"The Journeyman", by Elizabeth Yates
"A Spirit to Ride the Whirlwind", by Athena Lord
If your library has an online catalog, check to see if any of those are there. There might be descriptions of them, as well.
