Yep... ;-)
I tried finding a summary that doesn't spoil anything, but found it tough. Here's one that's almost TOO vague...
In Kristin Lavransdatter (1920-1922), Sigrid Undset interweaves political, social, and religious history with the daily aspects of family life to create a colorful, richly detailed tapestry of Norway during the fourteenth-century. The trilogy, however, is more than a journey into the past. Undset's own lifeher familiarity with Norse sagas and folklore and with a wide range of medieval literature, her experiences as a daughter, wife, and mother, and her deep religious faithprofoundly influenced her writing. Her grasp of the connections between past and present and of human nature itself, combined with the extraordinary quality of her writing, sets her works far above the genre of "historical novels."
Man, based on that alone I'd never pick up the book. What made you try it?
I just got news my aunt is in the hospital because one of her heart valves is leaking blood into her lungs. It sounds like she's stable but will require surgery, which will be her second major surgery in the past few years. Please keep her in your prayers.
"Have no idea what that is but I suppose you're going to tell me I can try checking it out :)"
"Yep... ;-)"
LOL!
Thanks for the summary. I've been reading the Norse epics from that period, so that sounds interesting.
