The Hobbit Hole XIII - Let them pass! Let them pass!
See our freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net home page! ^

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Let them pass! Let them pass!
(Note to dwarves, this is only meant figuratively)

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

"Uh, yeah, I believe Cartoon Network aired two very heavily edited episodes at one point. That's right up there with Fox's plan to air Escaflowne as a show for 10-year-olds. Didn't work."

It seems like some people here have a way of mismarketing Japanese manga/anime like that :)

"Eva is, I understand, the most bizarre anime ever made. I've met one person who claims to understand what was really going on. Add Judeo-Christian religious symbolism as seen through Japanese eyes and a weird sci-fi plot - and giant robots (the EVAs)..."

I've been seeing a surprising amount of allusions to Christianity in anime, though it seems to be viewed through a sort of neo-Buddhist context.

"It's pronounced "Ay-vahn-jel-ee-on", but everyone calls it Eva (ay-vah)."

Yep, that's how you'd pronounce it in the original Greek. Cool :)

I've gotta get ready for my movie here, so I'll be back tonight--have a good afternoon!

Ooops, that's not right - it's not pronounced like the Greek. I think it may be "Ay-van-gell-on". Don't know for sure since I have only ever seen the first episode (the people I was with decided it was too weird and might turn me off anime forever. This is when I was 16).

That's right... so I, the far-ranging one, has a better chance... besides the fact that Rosie being a hobbit puts some species difficulties into the mix.

You're the one who wouldn't share!

You can have Sam... and I'll throw in Legolas if you want him, cuz I don't.

Ooh...now THAT'S generous.

I don't want him either...least not until he's aged a bit.

He's like 500, how much older do you want him?

He is too pretty... and I don't like most blond guys. There are a few notable exceptions!

You want Gimli? Or maybe Frodo?

Frodo's too pretty, too.

Heh...I just think Orlando Bloom (not Legolas) will be better looking as he ages. Right now...you're right, he's too pretty.

He does look a LOT better with his natural coloring, though. Not exactly HARD to look at...

Nah, I don't like any variation on Orlando Bloom. In Pirates of the Caribbean, he kept making me think of a drowned rat.

Mostly I like more masculine guys, though that can change. If he's got really good hair, now that's a definite plus. Frodo, now, I don't think he looks old enough - to me, he looks 15.

I think he'll look more manly in ten years.

Then I might be interested.

Perhaps. For now, there are enough nice-looking guys out there I don't have to worry about one who might look ok in a decade.

Take Hugh Jackman - no, don't take him, I have dibs - but now there's an easy sight.

You can have dibs there if I get dibs on Gerard Butler.

K?

But I still need to watch X-Men. Haven't seen any of those. My brother just mentioned them the other day. Said they were mostly just entertaining, but "Wolverine is way cool".
