First and foremost is firearms geekery.
If you own a Smith&Wesson K, L, or M-frame revoler, you owe it to yourself to get the Ed Brown oversize thumblatch. S&W should have thought of this 100 years ago. It makes for fast cylinder opening, without having to change your grip to push the &*(%&*#^ original latch. I will be visiting www.edbrown.com, and beg that he make a similar latch for the J-frame. The photo below is my Model 10 "house gun", which is the only "hot" weapon in the house, and, like Dick Cheney, is at an undisclosed location.
Next is something that has been around for a few years, but I just stumbled upon. Aguilar of Mexico makes "baby" 12ga shotshells. They were originally intended for police and military use, but have found most applications "around the house". These are full-pressure 12ga loads, but achieve "only" the performance vels of a .410 or 28ga shotgun shell. At close range, they are still vey lethal, but don't have the recoil or range of the standard 12ga. They come in slug(!), No. 7.5 birdshot, and a mix of #1 and #6 buckshot. They're also darn cute!
Finally, in the field of computer geerery, her's a Swiss Army knife for the serious computer buff. Comes with tools, red LED, and 64 or 128MB of memory. The USB "thumb drive" can be used with the knife, or detached from it.
Wow...that's some cool stuff, my FRiend!!
I'm up...yes, it's 1:52am central and I'm up and my stomach is messed up. I ate too much hotsauce for supper, I think! Not bad, just a bit of indigestion. Took a Zantac prescription-strength...that should help.
300winmag, the thumblatch modification looks like a worthwhile addition to the '66. A number of years ago, I recall seeing an article on some of the English doubles having short chambers, IRRC, 2" or so. This would be a good deal for those fortunate enough to have such a double. Curious as to the pressure these shells develop. All sorts of applications come to mind. :-)
I picked up a minty SMLE .410 Ishapore. Single-shot Police. Made in 1949. Seems to have spent all it's time a rack. Actually it's supposed to be .303 straight case, unconverted to .410. Need to research it a bit and see how one goes about making it go 'boom' again. :-)
I love that Swiss Army memory card! I got an e-mail from Thinkgeek.com last week and they mentioned it.
