Here's Rick's Weekly Geekly Report. Well, it might not always be weekly, but it always will be geekly.

First and foremost is firearms geekery.

If you own a Smith&Wesson K, L, or M-frame revoler, you owe it to yourself to get the Ed Brown oversize thumblatch. S&W should have thought of this 100 years ago. It makes for fast cylinder opening, without having to change your grip to push the &*(%&*#^ original latch. I will be visiting www.edbrown.com, and beg that he make a similar latch for the J-frame. The photo below is my Model 10 "house gun", which is the only "hot" weapon in the house, and, like Dick Cheney, is at an undisclosed location.

Next is something that has been around for a few years, but I just stumbled upon. Aguilar of Mexico makes "baby" 12ga shotshells. They were originally intended for police and military use, but have found most applications "around the house". These are full-pressure 12ga loads, but achieve "only" the performance vels of a .410 or 28ga shotgun shell. At close range, they are still vey lethal, but don't have the recoil or range of the standard 12ga. They come in slug(!), No. 7.5 birdshot, and a mix of #1 and #6 buckshot. They're also darn cute!

Finally, in the field of computer geerery, her's a Swiss Army knife for the serious computer buff. Comes with tools, red LED, and 64 or 128MB of memory. The USB "thumb drive" can be used with the knife, or detached from it.
