Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Tree and flower and leaf and grass
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I'm slowly collecting those, along with any Rex Stout I can get my hands on. Also Christie and Sayers, and a couple other mystery writers.
Dad often has the ones I don't. It's great sharing similar tastes in books! ;-)

Oh, during the convoy from the airport to the restaurant in Gig Harbor on Friday, we passed an Army convoy on the highway... had a lot of fun waving and giving "thumbs-up" to the troops!

HA! You mean I said that out loud?
I'm dog-tired from the day..... and hitting the couch... if I don't return, it was because I've fallen and I couldn't get up.

How long till he and his brother roughhouse? He has the advantage over his brother now that Danny's arm is in a cast.
They are 14 months apart in age (Danny's older) There was a period in their lives when I had doubts that both of them would make it to adulthood they fought so much. Thank goodness that phase of their lives is in the past and now they are the best of friends.
R&R 15 days then back to the hell hole. That's Steve in orange.

Do you think we can manage to keep our pirate guy online with us tonight? Or are we gonna run him off again?
Just wondering how he's gonna call for eagle's rescue if his wireless problems continue? hehehe

Aside from the wireless issues... my day was ordinary. Still mired in the wasteland that is SOX 404. Sorbanes-Oxley compliance. It's ALL about writing a whole bunch of documentation that nobody will EVER read, and drafting a library full of crap every year that nobody will really care about but will pretend that they do.
I don't know Oxley, but I do have knowledge that Paul Sorbanes is a serious @hole.
All I know is that I'm going to be lobbying my congresscritters heavily to repeal this abortion of a law.

Graybeard58/59. Now that is a surprise birthday present. Simply about the best you could ask for, except to have Smaagee back full time. btw, happy birthday.Still grey and only four years behind you.
Thank you and as I tell my boys - turning 59 is better than the alternative.

waving and giving "thumbs-up" to the troops! Way cool. I make it a point to do that when I pass the convoys around Ft Lewis. I get lots of smiles.

That is particularly ~tricksey~! How fun! Then he got to shock his step mom who loves him dearly too.
She cried - The big baby.

Seems to me you showed me all that horrible documentation you were working on the other night. I'm thinkin' that SOX 404 might better be represented by a different acronym. How about changin' it to SUX 404? :-)

To: Wneighbor
Thank you for that and maybe some day I'll be able to post pretty messages like that.
To: Graybeard58
