Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Tree and flower and leaf and grass

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

What a lovely and touching gift from Kay. It's a very special reminder of your Mom.

All those quilts are pretty, and being handmade by the Grandmas is special!

But we've been trying to figure out what to do with all of Jr's old sports jerseys.

Hair's idea of a quilt made from them is great. It would be a fun and meaningful gift for him to take off to college!!

Hullo SuziQ! I agree... I really was just touched that she finished it so beautifully and gave it back.

Oh - and since you are 400 posts behind.... I'll put up the warning sign.... ;~D

My "Gig Harbor at Sunset" came out better than expected.

I'll say! *sigh* I miss that view...

Thanks for posting the pic, OT. It truly was a magnificent sunset.

Heh. Our #1 son is in France as I type! When I arrived from MS on Sun. afternoon, SSQ and he picked me up , then we took Paul to his terminal. While we parked he went to stand in line to get checked in, and was halfway through the line when we returned. He was pleased, though, because instead of the two hopper with a 4 hr. layover at Gatwick in London, they put him on a direct flight that left an hour earlier than the one he'd planned, and got him into Paris 5 hrs. earlier! He was hoping to have time to get to the hostel before they closed it for the day, unload his stuff, then head to the school to get registered. We haven't heard from him yet, so I don't know if those plans worked out, or not.
