The Hobbit Hole XII - Tree and flower and leaf and grass

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Tree and flower and leaf and grass

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

as far as Shoot-moot 05 goes, Spring or Fall is good... either April-May, Sept-Oct are best to avoid nasty weather... i.e. Africa hot or ice storms...

Maybe we should let WN and Jen pick the week since they have school schedules to juggle.

If'n we're lookin' at calendars, spring would likely be better for the Stormhands clan. It gets tricksey, might not be able tuh bring the fam'ly, but we'll work on it.

The earlier we get something on the calendar the better for us.

I once was part of a "youth minister" vote...guy was an (independent) missionary from out of the country...we offered to pay his way back to the States and everything. He wasn't part of the Southern Baptist Missions.

They had a special service where we got to meet him and then he left and we got to vote on him. Somethin' stirred in my spirit...something wasn't right, but I couldn't put my finger on it...so I voted no. The votes were collected and counted and it came out to about 325 votes for the guy...one vote against. I was the only vote against. Even Steve voted for him...was stunned when I told him I'd voted against.

3 months after we moved him back into the country to be our youth minister, he accepted another call to a different church...he had just used us as a stepping stone to get him back into the country.

I just talked to my mom. The doctors think it's something in the muscles. Possibly related to his asthma. Whatever it is, they're convinced it's not dangerous. So I'm trying to relax here...

Sounds very treatable and sounds like a good thing he went when he did. We'll keep him in our prayers.

The cookout we went to last night was at the home of one of Jr's good friends from youth group/choir (his name is Joe). Mrs. and Joe's mom have also been friends for years through Community Bible Study.

Joe has Marfan Syndrome. He goes back Wednesday for an update/evaulation. Last time when he was 14 he was doing okay and they said to come back when he was 16. That's now.

Gathering was a time for fellowship and prayer for Joe. We went even though Jr. couldn't be there. Joe's incredibly bright and gifted, but has this cross to bear, which he does with tremendous grace.

But if you have extra space on your prayer list, it would be appreciated.

Dad can be a little too macho sometimes... thinks it's wussy to admit he's hurting. But he knows better than to mess with something like this. Not that Mom would have let him blow chest pain off.

Keep me in your prayers, too, please. I'm still all shook up.

Will continue to pray for peace for you. I'm sure you'll feel better once you've seen your dad.

I know what that syndrome is...they think Abe Lincoln had it.

I brought it up in nursing school and the teacher hadn't even heard of it. She asked me about it and I told her all I knew. She says "Miss Parks...how do you know about this?" And I replied "I read about it in Sports Illustrated...Flo Hyman was afflicted with it." People with Marfans are usually very tall, thin, big hands...make good basketball players and such...

The problem is that many people are never diagnosed with it and drop dead from it. It's wonderful news that Jr's friend has been diagnosed and that they are monitoring it.

Yeah, they found it probably 2-3 years ago now. And you're right he's very tall and thin. So are both of his parents so it wasn't as obvious at first.
