Special Wedding Edition: The Hobbit Hole XI - No One Admitted Except on Wedding Business!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Whoa!!! I am covered with goosebumps!!!
AMEN SISTER!!!
*said of course in the classic Pentecostal shout*
Yep...it was pretty cool. Although I know both my boys are gifts from God, Joshua really is an answer to prayer.
I'm sorry. I was trying not to sound preachy. I just don't want you to miss that lovely time with God over something you don't have a choice about.
I think approaching the music minister and asking for the page numbers to show would be a fine idea. At my old church my closest friend there is responsible for inputting all the songs into the computer for the praise and worship time. Without even consulting her, I know that if anyone at our church approached my friend and asked her - the page numbers would soon start appearing on screen!
LOL - once we got a new song and she tried to get it all on one page so she didn't have to flip screens back and forth during the song. After service she and I went to lunch together. She asked me if I like that new song. I told her I wasn't sure cause I couldn't read all the words. (I also don't wear my glasses in church LOL) Next time we did that song the text was larger and she was flipping screens! LOL
I wasn't entirely happy with the no-praise-chorus thing three years ago when we started at our church. But I've grown into it. For the preaching, I'd put up with almost anything. Even enthusiastic fainting in the aisles.
I think it's good to visit other churches now and then, to see how it's done. I've been to Catholic masses, and AoG services, and nondenominationals. We're doing the same thing, even if in different ways.
Sigh... and now, I'm moving. I have no idea what sort of worship I'll attend in Fort Collins. Something Presbyterian, but there really is a lot of variation. I wouldn't mind some prayer that I find the right church home.
I've never been to a church where all the songs on the screen would be in a hymnal. Do you just sing hymns, or do your hymnals have more modern-type songs, too?
I'm having Braum's Chocolate Pecan CarbWatch ice cream right now...2g carb per serving...
It's almost a religious experience in it'sself...
Mmm... sounds good. How big is a serving? 2 carbs seems really, really low.
Says a half a cup...71g or about 2.5 ounces weighed...
That's amazing! The lowest-carb ice cream I've seen has 8 carbs in the same serving. What's the secret? It's not secretly soy milk or anything, is it?
You got it!!!
Promise!
I know how tough it is to find that new home. A church will never be the same. I haven't found one here that I love like my home in Waco... but I'm trying to adjust to the new. And doing my best to have an open attitude. I will surely be praying that you find what is right for you!
Thanks! I really do appreciate it.
We have a mix of hymns and choruses. We have hymnals in the pews and some of the old folks use them cause they don't like - or can't see the screen.
Because we also have other songs which are not in the hymnal my friend who is in charge of that database input for the songs created a booklet of the songs that aren't in the hymnal. It's maybe 30 pages or so. We have them sitting on tables in the foyer of the church for anyone to take. Some use them in the service to sing from. I have a copy which I brought home because I like to just have my own praise and worship time here sometimes. But, they are available for anyone who wants them. Newcomers sometimes have to be told they are there - but in our church that doesn't take long.
Course, new songs get added and then it takes a while for them to get in the booklet so that could be an issue. But, everytime a new batch gets printed the new songs are there.
MMMmmm.....
Okay - off to Celia's now. They just got in from church. They're starting the food! :-)
See ya'll later.
Ah, that's handy! I'm glad your church has the choice - nobody has to feel uncomfortable.
I've got three leads on churches in the area. One PCA, which is what I am now, a Orthodox Presbyterian church, and something that's Reformed, but I think from the Dutch, rather than Scottish, tradition. Hopefully I'll be happy at one of the three.
I'll look up the ingredients when I get a minute...my folks just called and said they were almost home! So I'll check in later...Steve is taking the jedis swimming.

it was a very small conversation...
Heh...I know. I felt a bit guilty postin' it afore church...
Oh, good, someone else to talk to... I'm waiting for the parents to get back from lunch so I can leave littlest bother home while we go to the bookstore.
How was your Sunday, so far?
