He told Myranda that anything she *asked* in class he could elaborate on at length. The stage was set!
When they reached that portion of the lesson, Myranda raised her hand at the first opportunity and asked, "Isn't evolution only a theory and isn't creation another valid opinion?" Teacher had his opening. Then she asked him, "What do you believe coach?" And he had another opening."
Nice strategery :) We had a high school science teacher like that--in a public school--who managed to allow his class to have a creationism-vs-evolution discussion by having the class have a panel debate on it, and each student on a panel had to research a different aspect of the issue.

See, you are a teacher even though that's not your profession. Some of us now know how to spot clams. We know of geoducks. We know about planning a wedding to be at the right tide. etc.
My kids have spent lots of vacations on the beach but never learned these things! That would have been a great learning experience for them just like it was for us!
And being from Texas - don't you think it's shocking that I learned more about horses from a few days with you than in all my life here? Even had horses in the pasture behind my old house - course I didn't go by the back fence when *they* were at the fence! But, I didn't know ferns upset their tummies, or that too many apples would. And I sure didn't know how to approach one or what their reactions meant.
As example, I would like my kid or grandkid to spend time with you and I know they would learn not just to sit on a horse and ride... but LOTS of stuff even unrelated to the horse!
As a parent, I actively sought out adults like you for my kids to spend time with. My kids are adults and I *know* that it paid off!

Oh, good! I definitely agree with a reinforcement approach vs. skimming material. That's how I teach martial arts, too. I've found students advance much farther if you really drill the basics as a foundation for more advanced skills.
Probably no new books until I get out to Colorado. I have to put them all in boxes now.
The American Standard Version was a minor American revision of the English Revised Version of 1881. I'm most used to KJV and NIV, out of habit rather than any theological position on the issue. But if I'm seriously studying a verse I'll go back and read the original Hebrew or Greek alongside an NKJV interlinear text.

When I read this I'm having flashbacks of moving my books last summer :) I'd estimate the total number of boxes I ultimately moved was in the range of 75-80. I love my books, but moving them is no fun!

Me, too! Which is why I need my collection.
The two manga I collect come out in even-numbered months, so in the odd-numbered months I'll get novels. And ask for gift cards...
