Yeah! - We're dry!

Is weather hard to predict where you are? - I have a feeling that those down in sun country won't understand changeable weather and how the forecast is never right.

It hasn't rained since the wedding.

Oops! *clears throat*

I hereby revoke my great weather holding pattern!!

There. You should have rain by the weekend now. ;-)

Weather is very changeable here...not as much as on the coast, but not much better.

We were supposed to get thunderstorms yesterday, but they never showed. However, it poured most of the night and part of the morning and looks like it's fixin' to do it again. Hopefully we'll get thunder this time. If we HAVE to get rain...I do love a good storm!

And the plants seem to like it. I have baby 'maters now. Still nowhere near ripe, but they're not just flowers now!

Well, I think laziness and selfishness are wider problems that are reflected everywhere. Comes from being too big a country, and the independence of not having any impact. We watch life on TV, we don't ~do~ it.

Sunny today! But it's starting to cloud over. I think we may get rain tonight.

Umm... it's worse in Europe, and they've got small countries. We just don't hear about it as much.

That's impossible to regulate...

Except that as educators we receive regular lectures on possible areas of lawsuit. I've discussed this with my brother and uncles who teach in public school here. They are bound by the threats of being fired or sued if they broach the wrong subjects. Granted, if the student brings up the topics they can discuss them. But, they still have concerns over being misconstued in those discussions.

For my part, I have monthly meetings which reinterate the things for which a suit can be brought. My issues are different from the public school issues here - but just the same - I have already inadvertantly stepped over the line and been reprimanded for saying too much.

My limitations mostly cover student's privacy. But after the first events I have pretty much clammed up about some things I don't think are wrong to discuss.

First thing I did, first week I taught, was ask a student on the front row of class to switch seats with a student toward the back of the class having vision problems. This is a no-no because the vision impaired student hadn't documented this problem with the disabilities office. I was told that because there was no documented disability with the one student that I could be construed as discriminating against and be sued by the student on the front row for asking him to move back.

I don't do that anymore.

I have several equally stupid stories in different areas of my teaching after only 3 years. And I have learned to just NOT do anything! It's much worse in public schools from what I hear from relatives.

I have been threatened with lawsuits by 2 students who legally had grounds. Three others have threatened suits with no grounds. That's a lot of suit threats in 3 years. More than the whole rest of my life combined.

If you can find a homeschool association, ask them if folks are interested in co-op classes for high schoolers.

But, I don't have degrees in those things. I ain't got the credentials.

If the teacher has freaky ideas, we want them curbed, if the teacher agrees with us, we want them to be able to say what they want.

I think, if the teacher has freaky ideas that I want my kids to figure out they are freaky and learn to discuss it with me or other adults and ration it out for themselves!

Every day since last week, they've been predicting rain "tomorrow".

Good point on the batting average!

Every night since I've been back in Wichita it's rained!!! Every night on the nightly weather report they've said "No rain within the next 24 to 48 hours! But, within 2 to 6 hours it rains! A lot!

We don't get rain in Texas in summer. This is yours!

I'm bound to hurt somebody's feelings without knowing it, because I'm Jen and that is, apparently, what I do.

For what it's worth, you've never hurt my feelings.

Nope. It's the same for us. They don't have good averages here either.

Though I owe you one for the Zelazny book. I've got a couple more to read. They're just beautiful

What's ASV?

Everyone knows the NASB is the only truly inspired word of God ;-)

(I use NKJV)
