The wedding album is just wonderful! I got all misty-eyed here at work when I was leafing through with Concerning Hobbits and Jump Up Behind Me playing in the background.

A couple of my co-workers have passed by and commented how on very cool this album is and how beautiful the wedding turned out. :-)

Unfortunately, usually the end of these sort of things is that I DO blow my top and reinforce that image.

*sigh*

They look like maybe iced cappuccinos?

Look tasty, in any case.

I still wanna look for one of those coffee makers!

It's never too soon for math...we use Saxon math with manipulatives...it's very good up until Algebra (or so I hear). It's been around a long time and the older kids that I've talked to say that if you finish with Saxon, then college math is a breeze. I'm happy with it...not sure what we'll do when it's time for Algebra though.

Sonlight has a wonderful History/Social Studies curriculum... lots of good books tied into the lessons...

"We still hear that here in Tobaccoville...(Philip Morris HQ)"

Interesting. Tobaccoville, NC is where RJR has a massive manufacturing facility.

I loved Saxon math.

We had Rod and Staff first...oooh, that was horrible! I came very close to being turned off math forever and ever.

Well...I do wish I was meeker. I'll go along just fine trying to be patient and good, and then something will tick me off and all my good intentions go down the drain in a hurry.

And those are the times everyone remembers as a revelation of my TRUE personality. I wish it weren't so, but...

I actually toured the facility a number of years ago. RJR (as well as PM) was a major sponsor for the association I worked for.

I'm thinking of visiting a cooking store this weekend, just to check prices. I love browsing those kinda places...

Maybe I can drag the happy couple along...

I guess in a lot of ways, I DO really want to get to know her. Margaret isn't into typical girl stuff at ALL. She wouldn't want to go to a place like that in a million years. Not that I'm super girly...but it'd be nice to have another sister in the family, I admit!

From personal experience, Saxon Algebra's good too. My younger sibs are working through Saxon as well. The sisters are done (neither of them got to Advanced Mathematics, which is hard but prepares you for college math) and the boys are heading toward Algebra.

Corin, we didn't use Saxon until 4th grade, so I don't know how the earlier books are, but if you homeschool Luke, use Saxon, at least Saxon 54 through Algebra 1 or 2. He'll thank you someday.

Did you hate Saxon while doing it? I enjoyed Algebra, but when I was younger I hated copying the problem to a workbook and solving it there.

When I hit college math, I realized how good the Saxon had been. When I have kids, they're using Saxon. But, heh, I hope they've fixed some of the errors in the answer books. I remember at least four times I was right and they were wrong and it took me hours to convince Mom...

I remember liking it a lot. I had graph paper...and it was kinda fun writing stuff in neatly in columns. OK, so I'm a dork...

And the Rod and Staff was so bad, it made Saxon seem heavenly. Plus I liked how it really helped you approach problems logically, step by step.

I do remember the errors in the answer books, though. Ugh! But I recently helped someone with a second edition of Algebra II, and as I recall, we didn't see errors. So I think they've fixed 'em.

Back when RJR was assembling the land parcels to build that facility there was a guy who lived in an old farmhouse right where the main entrance/guard gate was proposed. His little house wasn't worth $30,000 on the market but it was his home and he told RJR to forget about it.

He changed his mind when their offer finally reached $300,000.

I think it's a terrific idea! You should take her with you even if your brother doesn't tag along.

I've got to go to a Team Meeting now, so I'll be back later.
