Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Tree and flower and leaf and grass

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

All espresso is really the same kind of coffee. It just varies in how it's presented and prepared.

I love the stuff. Then again, I've been drinking it since I was 2.

You know.... Here in WA, we have mountains and tall trees and desert and the ocean all ~in the same state~.

*sigh*

Almost went to the doctor.

I think I'd have broke down and went in that case!

I love it too. I think because Grama liked to make her coffee on the stove top instead of a coffee maker. Which pretty much produced espresso! LOL

I have one of those.... makes good easy camping coffee... easy to pack. French press works good too, but it's big and all glass.

Trouble was, I was home alone. And I didn't want to have to get up and make the effort to get there. It was 15 miles to the hospital... just too much effort at that point.

But I think scorpion bites are a real bona fide emergency warranting a call.... they ain't like mosquito bites, or whatever critter bit us at entmoot!

In that case, I've GOT to have one before I attempt camping again. Four days of instant coffee was wayyyyyy too long.

That's the way a Black Widow is, apparently....makes you so sick you think you're gonna die. But rarely do you really die...usually only from anaphalyxis (allergic reaction).

'Cept with kids...they can kill a kid.

Still, if I got bit by a Black Widow, I would likely die of a heart attack before the venom ever had a chance to effect me!

For most people here scorpion bites are pretty much like wasp stings or yellow jackets. They don't do too much but make you swell, burn and itch. But, in the last few years I seem to have become more and more sensitive to some of those kind of bites as well. I dunno - it's like I'm building up a *worse* reaction to them than I used to have. Last couple of times I've been stung by yellow jackets they've made me sick too. I mean - throwin' up sick. Not normal.

Scorpions can kill ya too can't they? And they just ~look~ creepy. I'd have a heart attack too.... Its the whole thing about bugs that have stingers on their butts, runnin' around trying to stick ya with their behind. That creeps me out.

It is pretty normal to have increasing reaction to venoms the more you get stung.... Bee allergies ~develop~ from stings. You might be getting to the point you're getting dangerous, and I might be too... the last time I got stung by a bee, my throat started closing up.

Naw...they're like a bad bee sting...it's the reaction that kills ya, and I bet more people die of bee-stings than scorpion stings.

Wn, if I were you, I'd keep some Benadryl with you at all times so if you get stung you can take one to be on the safe side...sounds like you are building up to a big reaction!

Scorpions are *not* deadly as a normal thing. Only for people who are allergic. Usually the same folks who are allergic to bee stings and such are allergic to scorpions. That would be deadly about a scorpion sting.... not as a general purpose deadly.
