Special Wedding Edition: The Hobbit Hole XI - No One Admitted Except on Wedding Business!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Count me in...and if I can move (to the sunny South), so much the better.
I hear Umbar is very nice this time of year...

...oopsie...
Good morning!
And a lovely morning it is, too!
Morning!
Don't know whether it's a good morning or not, yet. But I'm at work, and the sun is shining.
'Morning!
It's in the freakin' 50's here. When does summer start in KC? :)
It's in the 50s here, too. But supposed to be just about 80 by later in the day, so I can deal with it. Plus it made for nice sleeping weather.
It's supposed to be at least upper 80's with high humidity....need that nice, muggy, sauna weather (without the mosquitoes).
It's supposed to get up to 80 today.
I'm just trying NOT to think about this evening. My brother Ben is arriving with his girlfriend, and is insisting that she stay with me. Now...I don't have an extra bed or room to have an extra bed, so I guess that means I'm sleeping on the couch.
Plus Dad called last night and asked that I have dinner ready and waiting when they arrive. Just soup...but I'm short on ingredients and can't afford to buy any. And what would be fine for me - buncha cheap things like cabbage and celery, spiced up with cayenne - wouldn't necessarily be something I'd serve to guests. So I'm fretting.
Hey, if they're imposing on you - offer her the couch, and feed them what you can afford. It's not like you invited them, right? (It's not like this is your favorite sibling or anything, either)
Why on earth is she being foisted off on you, anyway?
I wouldn't be mean to her...and I think he means well. But I'm still kinda ticked.
He doesn't want her to stay at the house, and Dad didn't get a clear answer from him on why. HE isn't staying there, so it's not like he has some silly notion about it being improper for them to be under the same roof. Dad thinks he's worried she'll be intimidated by staying with a whole gang of people, one of them Ben's father.
But...if it were me, I'd find it MORE awkward to stay with one person I didn't know, where I couldn't go off on my own very easily. And an oldest sister to boot!
;-)
Good morning!
Good morning! I brought a wrap sandwich for lunch today! Looking forward to trying 'em...
Sounds silly to me! And it's not mean to give the guest the couch. Personally, sleeping on someone else's bed would be more uncomfortable for me.
And if she intends to become part of your family, she'd better learn to deal with a whole gang of people...
Problem is the couch isn't full sized...so I'd feel bad about making someone sleep on it.
*sigh* I could probably borrow a twin sized mattress from the town-dwelling bothers, but other than slapping it down on the livingroom floor, I'm not sure where to put it. My house is teeny.
*yawn* g'mornin'...could someone tell thenurse that my caffeine drip is empty?
Didn't make it to the gym. When I woke up at 5:30 I had a tension headache. I dunno, mighta had something to do with the fact that between the time I signed off here last night and 1:00 a.m., themissus and theboys woke me up 3 (or was it 4) times.
When Jr. came in he wasn't feeling well. Said he was dizzy and his eyes were blurry. I told him to put the laptop away and get to bed. Then I thought to ask him what he had eaten yesterday ~ the leftover birthday cake, a piece of chicken, a slice of pizza ~ sigh...
Oh, and the dog peed in the floor last night. The allergy shots make him have to go more. 'Course Jr. was still downstairs when it happened, but said "he did't tell me he had to go out." There's not a court in this land that would convict that dog.
I see that I was spoke about disparagingly last night. I'll have to go back and see what that was about.
Huh... how long is she going to be here?
Why does your dad want you to make a SOUP?? Sounds like an unusual request.
"Honey, I need you to make some soup for our company."
I mean, if I were asked to entertain, how I did it and what I served would be up to me!
Yeah, or at least offer to buy the ingredients!
