Special Wedding Edition: The Hobbit Hole XI - No One Admitted Except on Wedding Business!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
That fireworks drive sounds like a great experience!--neat :)
"Sounds vey cool. We just talked about buying some and setting them off at the beach this summer."
Fireworks over water are great. When I was in Milwaukee they had a great show over Lake Michigan for the 4th which you could see for miles around, and it lit the water against the night sky so that it looked like a pool of fire. Also when I was in 6th grade our class took a field trip to Washington and we watched some fireworks over the Washington Monument while we sat at the Lincoln Memorial. The reflection in the pool really added to the effect.
With elf-boy, Ben liked to sit in the seat of the baby swing. I have a pic of that somewhere around here... hmm... not sure where it might be, though. Ben was *alot* smaller six years ago!
"Ben was *alot* smaller six years ago!"
LOL!
I always bought 'em for later when the kids were growing up. Since 4th of July and New Years were often too dry to be safe for fireworks, we'd get 'em for after the first good rainstorm. That was always a nice treat for the girls. Something to look forward to after a good rain. :-)
When I was a kid I also liked those kind of fireworks that don't really explode but they look like little q-tips and they make a big pop when you throw them on concrete--don't know what they're called anymore but they were fun :)
:-) Hazarding to guess, I would say Ben is 15-18 lbs. When Elf-boy was born Ben was only in his tweens as cat years go, so he weighed 6-8 lbs, and was super clumsy!
I got Ben the spring of '97, and elf-boy was born July of '98.
Isn't that always neat to watch how kids grow compared to pets? I always think it is.
Did Elf-boy see "Spiderman" yet? :)
G'night, all!
Thanks
She was a "secret toy surprise in the pack", but don't tell anyone.
Thanks man.
Not yet, but I believe he intends to!
Cute! Not chelsea, too small, but sure is a good resemblance!
Hey! I resemble that remark.
Similar experience for me driving to work tonight, but not as awesome. Every side street had someone shooting off some heavy-duty aerial stuff, and it was like driving through a fireworks display.
I did notice a short round hit on the street ahead of me, and skip up, making for an airburst just over someone's house. This being the Detroit area, I'm sure there will be reports tomorrow of fires and injuries. All the stuff I saw was strictly illegal, even if the commercials say the store are just on the outskirts of Toledo.
That DID sound like perfect timing! Some folks down on the cross street entertained us with an impromptu fireworks display. We watched, then clapped at the end of it. Don't know if they heard us or not. Fireworks are illegal in MA, but you can drive right over the border into NH and buy them.
Can't wait to hear about your camping adventure!!
American-style goodies are impractical to ship, and Hobbit Hole knives are completely out of the question. But there is still the British Legion at www.britishlegion.org.uk.
As a token of appreciation, I dropped by and put a few quid on my plastic, where it will be changed to American dollars by the time it hits my bill. It doesn't have quite the same sense of satisfaction as mailing out Hobbit Hole knives, but it feels good to know that we support everyone who helps us in this war.
Can Foster's be sent electronically to the Aussies?
