Special Wedding Edition: The Hobbit Hole XI - No One Admitted Except on Wedding Business!
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Sounds good.... at the moment! Let us know as it gets closer.... if'n you want us to tag along!
"You don't want to get mixed up with a guy like me. I'm a loner, Dottie. A rebel."
I guess I really am a loner....
We just been out feeding the horses... and listening to firecrackers from the neighbors.
And she's what, about 37 now? :p
Uh.... because I was off in the kitchen finishing off barbeque, peach cobbler and ice cream with the family? :-)
And Gidget's on meds huh? :-)
I'm back..
wha happen?
Whew! I thought it was just me. :-)
Nuthin happened. Everyone left me all alone and I thought maybe I forgot to shower or something.
Haven't given Gidget her downers yet, but it is imminent...
So, what's happened since Tuesday?
Hullo all, I'm back. Exhausted. I got sunburned, we had a two hour delay in Chicago on the way home, and I just had to pull a marble out of the bathtub drain. On the other hand, I had a great time and I've got an apartment.
More later to interested parties.
Welcome back, Jen!! We've missed you!
Did you find a nice place? Close to school? How was Colorado?
Colorado was fantastic. Got a nice place, I'm working on a more interesting reply which I'll post shortly. Thanks for asking!
Oh, yeah, and it turns out I'm dead. More on that momentarily.
Can't wait to hear!
I'm headed to the store for a second. be right back.
So. There and Back Again.
We (my parents and I) flew out of Pittsburgh around 7 on Tuesday. We had a brief layover at Chicago Midway, just time enough to get some Ben and Jerrys, and then into Colorado. Got there about 10:30 local time, which was of course two hours earlier than Im used to. Found the rental car, drove thirty miles or so toward Fort Collins and found a place to stay.
Next morning, we got up and drove to Fort Collins. I had a meeting at the Department to discuss a few things, so the parents wandered around town for a while. Got done with the meeting and we went to look at apartments. We looked at about five complexes one place wouldnt rent to me because Im going to be a full time student, some sort of subsidized housing, whats up with that? but I ended up taking the first apartment wed been to. Its a lovely one-bedroom, on the third floor of a nice complex. Only about a mile from the Barnes and Nobles, which is what really counts, right? The kitchens a little old, but its mine
or hopefully will be.
After apartment shopping, we had more free time than wed thought, so we drove up to Vail. Its very snooty up there. Lovely, but way more money than weve got! But we had fun hiking up at 10,000 feet (Friday we went up to about 12,000. Couldnt do much more than walk. The air gets thin up there). I got a nasty sunburn even though I used sunscreen. The top of my head is sunburned through my hair, hows that work?
Oh, and Im dead. Right. We were on the chair lift in Vail going up the mountain to hike incidentally its a great hiking spot, in July! and my cellphone rang. Thats just wrong, in and of itself. Cell phones shouldnt work in such a place. But it was the apartment complex calling to say theyd run my SSN and it was coming back as a dead person. I dont know whats up with that. Ill have to call around next week and figure that out.
Jeeze. Bummer Jen.... But under the circumstances, at least you don't have to spend all that money and time on graduate school! ;~D
Glad to hear you found a place though.
Ain't the Colorado rockies grand, though?
JenB; glad you had a good time in CO. but that's a strange thing to hear on a cell phone on a ski lift in Vail. We concur, wrong on many levels.
Cue Monty Python - Gong - "bring out..." you guys know the rest.
OT is coming back tonight as well. Haven't heard from Rosie yet - off adventuring we suppose.
