The Hobbit Hole XII - Tree and flower and leaf and grass

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Tree and flower and leaf and grass

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

That was just beautiful.

Thank you, Corin. It was a small tribute to RWRF's super-spam of yesteryear....

Yeah - there is no winning one of those things!

Exactly. If I win, I feel guilty. If I lose, I feel frustrated.

He's fine... Dang yooots.

Glad to hear that at least. I'm sure if I tried to have very much at all to drink my true elven age would show through *way* too well! Better not to find out IMO. LOL

We've actually done s'mores with candles tho. Works pretty well if you can't get a fire going outside.

I have caught up on the thread and read your two family situations. Wow. Just too much for folks to really have to handle alone the way ya'll do. I realize how fortunate I am to at least be distanced to some degree from my family. Unfortunately, the distancing leaves me out of a lot of family that I'd like to be involved in. I miss them, but so many family get-togethers just seem to end up as disasters.

When Grama was still alive I was dealing with much the same as you Corin. And Ruthy, my mom and dad sound so much like your mom. I have really gotten to the point that I am *so* tired of hearing that they call me for emergencies because *I* am the one they can always count on. Sometimes I really wonder what it would be like to be one of those that no one can ever count on. But, I can't ever seem to be the one to *not* be there when there is a need. And yet, I get treated like crap.

But have you done them sitting on the couch with a Bic lighter?

I just blew off some major steam with my b-i-l. I think he understands and to a point agrees. But he had told me his wife has "too much on her plate."

Yes, she has young children...HELLO???

But I told him that one five minute call a day wouldn't push anything off her plate. Also pointed out that in the 9 months Nana has been with us that he couldn't use up the fingers on one hand counting where they'd done something for Nana without us initiating it.

Uncle Lynn asked me to ask ya'll for prayer for his Uncle Doyle. He just got back from visiting his Mom and Dad, this is his mom's baby brother.

He fell off a ladder and broke 3 ribs, punctured a lung and his kidneys have stopped functioning. This was a couple of days ago and the kidney thing just happened. He's in the hospital in a smaller town north of Austin and they are trying to get him transferred to a hospital in Austin or Dallas *now*.

Prayers for Uncle Doyle and your family. You've got your hands full. But I'm glad you can be there for them right now.

Yeah - activity should start here too. I want to rake up all the loose hay from the delivery truck before it rains.
