The Hobbit Hole XII - Tree and flower and leaf and grass

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Tree and flower and leaf and grass

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I may try for cukes, though. Those are so good as a picnic veggie! Even just with salt. I love 'em.

Good evening everyone...

So, what's all this "Entmoot 2005" talk?

Looking for a good place? I know one...

Good evening!

I think it's been decided that Entmoot 2005 will be at the g'nads' residence in MO. Now we're just hoping g'nad remembers the date once it's set, and doesn't mow us all down when we show up unexpectedly...

I love onions, but it's the smell that bothers me! They smell like B.O.!!

Only the BO of someone who's been eatin' a lotta onions!

LOL! I probably smell like onions and garlic all the time without knowing it. I love both of 'em!

[sigh] Someday... someday...

Today I learned (on good confidential authority) that Mr. Balrog is now encouraging people he talks to to call the IT help desk number every night after midnight until about 4am, with totally made-up problems. Of course... a totally made-up problem cannot be "fixed"... right?

Of course, I'm on call this week, so for now it will ring to my phone. He's trying to compile evidence of "nonresponsiveness" in the IT department.

What a buttmunch.

This all started when we told him that his mailbox was too friggin big. At about 2GB Exchange/Outlook has several problems/bugs that cause it to start acting unpredictably. These are well known and well documented issues. It's important to keep your mailbox under 2GB. Gigabytes. That's really, really, really a lot of mail. His mailbox is now 5GB and counting. It is nearly impossible to work with anymore. And of course... this is all my fault and I'm doing it to him just to make him look bad.

Now on every flame-out email he sends me, he cc's the CEO.

[sigh] I love my job.

Where is that?

Heh...as for g'nads, guns will be provided, practically, sounds like!

We're going somewhere with lighthouses this weekend, provided we actually make it there! Deer Island, New Brunswick.

Tawas Point, Tawas City, MI.

The use of the word "city" in the name is a charitable obeisance to tradition: there's about six thousand people in the greater Tawas Metro Area.

My Mommy lives there, though for moot purposes use of the state park campground or any of the 950* beachfront cabin "resorts" might be preferable.

*This number is exaggerated. Not by much.

What a jerk! It's bad for someone to do this himself - but to have other people calling and pulling these stunts too is reprehensible! I know with you being on call this is a real pain.... and I suspect you will even feel worse about it when someone else is on call next week. Won't you? I know you like your people enough not to want 'em to have to mess with this ludicrous behavior.

You do know that it isn't *only* your company with these guys. You are not alone. Balrogs are everywhere... even in Texas... *sigh*

Anybody with any kind of intelligence knows that their mailbox should be handled responsibly. I have worked with those who believe deleting anything from their mail is inappropriate also. You gotta wonder if those guys keep every piece of junk mail that comes into the post office box too! Can you imagine the stacks of paper that those kind of people must have stacked somewhere in their houses? Major fire hazard there! If they do it with Outlook ..... :-)

I know what you mean. There are lots of GORGEOUS places north of here, right on lakes, with acres and acres of forest and wonderful places to hike and swim and garden and anything else your heart desires...but finding a job that isn't an insanely long commute away is downright impossible. Not to mention you can get snowed in for a good long time in the winter...cozy if you don't have to work...a nightmare if you do!

But I'd love to have a place like that someday.

It's a year-round vacation wonderland! In the winter there's XC skiing, snowmobiling, Perchville (a celebration of ice fishing), etc. etc. etc. (and the boys raised in the south say "brr, send me to Fla")...

...and of course the summer brings beaches and tubing/canoeing/kayaking on 3 or 4 local rivers, more fishing, etc. etc. etc.

Couple of good-sized well-equipped marinas...

Can you document these abuses and pass them along to the aforementioned CEO?
