Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Tree and flower and leaf and grass

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Well, well... got another fun visit from the Balrog about midnight last night.

Oh no! I'm very sorry to hear about this. Bad day?

I actually have some slightly more refined canned meat. ;-) Canned corned beef. I'm bringing it!

I'm trying to think if there are any fresh vegetables that would travel well...probably not. May have to run out to the grocery for canned veggies.

Yum!

Heh...I bet they don't taste very good. Probably greasy and fishy tasting.

But desperate times...

Corn still in husks should travel well and doesn't need refrigeration either!

And roasted corn is AWESOME!! Just roast it in the husk over the grill, (wrap it in foil if you like)...then shuck, add butter and salt - VOILA!! YUMMY!

Fresh peppers travel okay. And carrots and radishes. Don't know how you're packing but I've put Roma tomatoes in an empty egg carton before too. Celery sticks in ziplocks keep fair.

Aunt's putting supper on the table... gotta go get barbeque... back in a few! :-)

[sigh] Were it only that easy.

This guy is a manifest @hole. Everybody knows it, and everybody is too scared of him to ever tell him he's wrong. Even when he's embarrassingly wrong. Blatantly wrong.

I talk a mean game but I don't get in his face any more than anybody else. I'd still like to milk this job for a little while longer.

I would soooo love to someday be in a position to quit my job and leave with a last great act of defiance. I know there would be a standing ovation across the company.

Well, they must be fatty as all get out!

But I could not eat one! I'm a sucker for a cute face. ;-)

I've lived without veal for over 15 years for the same silly reason!

Well... not enough for a jacket there... but I bet he'd make a comfy pair of slippers. :-)

I know the type you speak of. I have a couple of clients like that too. And they are ~always~ right, so I have to take whatever they dish out.

Be sure to give us the play-by-play when Last Great Act of Defiance (hereto known as "LGAD") takes place!

Some people have wayyyyyyyyy too much time on their hands.

Or need to get a real hobby, in any case.

Skeery...

Cukes should last if you're careful how you pack 'em. And I love Ruthy's corn suggestion too! YUM!!!

You have made me very hungry.... the barbeque wasn't on the table yet. I think I'm famished!!!!

They aren't as cute as adults, though...

I still wouldn't wanna eat one.

Naaaw...a furry hat would be best! That way, you can still keep the face!

I like the idea of putting tomatoes in an egg carton. I have a feeling that isn't gonna happen...but I'll have to use that idea later.

It's gonna be kinda tight, I'm afraid. Lots of instruments. Bagpipes, a guitar, fiddle, at least my mando...plus all our luggage. I love Van-sama! OK, so it isn't a COOL vehicle, but it sure is handy for things like this!
