OK, got the news back on Van-sama. Rear shocks are VERY worn and should be replaced, though they aren't actually completely broken yet. He said they were beyond their normal life cycle in miles. And the squealing is because the front brakes and rotors need replaced - I guess the right front rotor is particularly warped and is rubbing on turns.

I told them to go ahead and do the shocks. It'll save me grief in the long run, though he said I COULD put it off a little longer. Total cost of $275, with labor and tax and all. Ouch. But I was half expecting even more, so I guess I'm OK with that. Or resigned, if not OK. I just had a brother who I've given money in the past give ME some, so I can handle this.

It'll be nice having Van-sama back in shape and driving smooth again!

I'm glad to hear the Van-sama news wasn't as bad as you expected. Will it be done tonight?
