Word For The Day, Thurday, June 17, 2004
Thursday, June 17, 2004 | Slip 18

Posted on 06/17/2004 5:37:05 AM PDT by Slip18

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today. Haven’t checked my mood ring yet. Y’all behave yourselves, ya hear? Principal JimRob is still out of town. I expect the utmost respect on this thread today. The Mods have been overworked lately.

The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer.

Folderol, also Folderal noun:
Pronunciation: Pronounced about three different ways. Take your pick.
Etymology: Probably fr. Latin

1) Impractical, unnecessary or excessive trimming of finery or effects: pretty, but flimsy or useless ornament : something that is unnecessary: trifle, gewgaw
2) A nonessential talk or action: piffle, nonsense

how old is your stepdaughter? xsteen is almost 16 yo and she wouldn't wear anything that ANY of us in the house owns. she is incredibly picky!

You're reaction to the fabric softener sounds almost identical to mine.

I don't know about plastic watchbands......I have only had leather or metal.

Stetson and Lady Stetson colognes set me to itching like crazy.....even in a crowded bar I can tell if someone is wearing it and have to leave. And I break out in HUGE welts if I come in physical contact with it. Stinging and biting insects all set me off...........none of these allergies did I discover I had until I was over 20.

i would say it is probably 75-25% with xshub doing 75% of the ironing. the job i hate most is putting stuff away. i despise it. i would do it all if someone would just bring it down (now the routine is for the kids to shower it down from the upstairs landing, we have cathedral ceilings in the fam room, which is laundry central, and they will dump it over and xs2pup has a field day dodging it)and then put it away. i will sort and do it and then i am having them ALL do folding now. including xsboy. he tries to absent himself from the vicinity if at all possible.

I'm not touching that.

I think bras get washed in this house about 3 times a year.............because that's about as often as I wear one.

The space available requires folding, and I won't iron either unless I absolutely have to.
Had to do it while in the military, and burned my fingers a few times because of recalcitrant pocket flaps.

well she is surprisingly well organized and she has an underwear drawer and gym shorts and tshirts drawer etc. Her school uniforms of course need to be ironed. But thank the Lord its summer and the uniform season is passed for now.

Blistering skin and swelling with painful irritating incessant itching.
Not fun to discover.
Had to deal with it when it was just the watch band, and that was annoying in and of itself.
That was pretty fairly disgusting to take off the watch and discover though.

Inspired by this WFTD, I'd like to propose the term-

Freeperol (n)

1) Impractical, unnecessary or excessive discussion on Free Republic; copious, but flimsy or useless argumentation; forum information that is unnecessary: trifle, gewgaw
2) A nonessential post or on-line action: piffle, nonsense

Example:

This post, and many of those by the author should be taken as pure freeperol.

Well, it was like prehistoric man and his first encounter with a sabertooth kitty or a skunk.
At first, wonder and amasement followed with amusement and then outright panic and terror.

LOL!
Step-daughter had a disorganised organisation, and somehow knew where everythign she needed was.
However, ask her where the plate she took into her room was and she'd draw ablank.
(Under the bed next to the killer sneakers was very likely..)

I see you still need clearing up on that whole Man/woman thing.Just because xshub is nice about it, doesn't mean you should take advantage. : P

Before you rail on about equality and all that other BS, who has the more demanding/stressful job???????
