'Cause, you know, I don't know nuffin' 'bout prejudice and being black in America, seeing as how I'm twice his age and been black all that time.
He told me not too long ago that Fox News was rotting my brain, and that I need to listen to more NPR.
Sigh.
However, he and I do agree on some things. Homeschooling and vouchers, for one. And more modesty for young girls' clothing, for another.
Oh jeez... you're BLACK??? Well, that changes... uh... uh... hmm... nothing at all. :-)
hehhehe... I am for some reason compelled to relay a story from my best friend on the Polar Sea so many years ago... His name was (OK, probly still is) also Dave. He grew up in a typical suburban middle class neighborhood outside of Chicago. He was the only black kid at his school.
One day one of his friends comes up to him and says: "Hey Dave... some of the guys have been talking smack about you... and hey, you're my friend... so I wanted to hear it from you first. Dave... people are talking about you... they're sayin'... they're sayin' that you're black."
Dave said he spent a good half hour rolling on the floor laughing.
He was (and I'm sure still is) a good conservative republican, and one of the best orators I've had the privelege to be around. Together we had a blast blowing away the libs on the ship. He had a clarity of speech that was astounding. I lost track of him after he left the Polar Sea, but now and then I keep trying to find him on the net, to no avail, so far. Of all of my lost friends I miss Dave the most.
Hey Dave... are you a freeper?
