Her family is really neat. Her Dad is an Army vet who served in Vietnam. I haven't seen him for a while, but I HAVE to ask him what he thinks of Jean al Query! He detested x42! Her Mom is a Clinical Psychologist, her older brother graduated from the AF Academy in 2000 and is doing missle stuff in Montana, and her younger brother is at Annapolis and is joining the Marines!

It sounds like four members of that family have earned our Hobbit Hole knife. Maybe it would be easiest to send them to the parents, and let them parcel the knives out. :)

That's awful sweet! I remembered after I wrote last night that I have a nephew who is the Army in Germany training helicopter pilots on the Apache Longbow D. He had thought about West Point, but ended up doing ROTC at Johns Hopkins, then joined up after Graduation. Late in 2002, he had received orders to go to Korea, and his Mom heaved a sigh of relief, cause it wasn't the Middle East. Then 'Dear Leader' started showing his butt again, and they got worried. Just after the war in Iraq started, he got orders for Germany, so his Mom wasn't quite so worried. He had been getting Longbow pilots in from Iraq cause the Longbow D is the newest platform and they needed training on it.

His dad is the AF Academy grad, and when it came time for Gerry to choose what training he wanted (fighters, etc.) he asked if he could do helicopters. Apparently, in late 69, the Army was training a few AF guys, and he desperately wanted to fly helos. The powers that be said no, so he ended up in C-130s. He is SO proud, and jealous, of his son for being able to fly the Longbow!

Anyway, that's a long way of asking, could we send one to my nephew, too? I'll get a check out to you!
