both of you should go swimmin' in our lovely 50-degree water first thing as soon as you get here. No can do. Sharks from California would race up the coast to have a bite of the first Ruthsicle! Silly, of course, since the Orcas will beat them there. :-)

New storm just hit. This one just developed. The other big one is still about 50 miles away.
Hail. Like nickle size.

As true native Washingtonians know... "layering" is the key. At least 3 Layers of clothes, going from light to heavier out to an outer shell of something rain-proof.
You take off layers or put layers back on depending on what the weather is doing *right now*. The rest goes in a small backpack (see REI online catalog for details).
For example: Yesterday it was cool... about 55 or so. I was wearing my heavy CC Filson thick wool jacket just to go outside for smoke breaks. In the afternoon it cleared off and warmed up and I was just out in a polo shirt. Today it is about 70 or so, and I'm driving with the top down. Total blue sky... didn't even have to worry about putting the top up to come in to da waterin' hole.
Like they say: The great thing about Washington is that if you don't like the weather... wait five minutes. It'll change. :-)

Seems like you get that an awful lot.
Ya know...today at work we were discussing all the bad stuff we miss out on by living in such a frigid area...poisonous insects and snakes, cockroaches, tornados, hurricanes...
Here, we only have to deal with swarming mosquitos and blackflies, and the cold. Some days, I consider myself AWFULLY lucky, I tell ya what...

No sharks here... water's too cold. So you've said. But, what about if sharks have learned how to "layer"? Then, I am royally screwed! *winking at you*
