Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...That none have seen but we alone.

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Reminds me of San Antonio, Texas in the summer of '63...Yes, it got that hot.

One word for you Steve - Chill!

Do you know the trick about putting a few drops of alcohol in each of his ears when he gets out of the pool.

Haven't heard that one. But he wasn't wearin' his earplugs cause we didn't think he'd want to get in the "big pool." But he did.

We need to get him back and get the tubes checked.

Yep.

Good morning!

Am back at work! Oddly enough I'm glad- I have so much to do here that I was stressing out at home about not being able to get any of it done.

How sad is that?

Morning!

I'm about to head out. If traffic doesn't kill me, I'll be home around five or so. Sigh... and at lunch time I get to help Dad take his car to the shop, and that's more construction plus city traffic.

Oh well. Tis Wednesday, and the sky is... threatening, but not too bad. It rained yesterday afternoon, and half the sky was clear, and there was a gorgeous double rainbow. I wish I'd had my camera, it was so gorgeous.

Awww...what a cutie she is! MAN she's got a lot of hair. I know I said that before, but it still surprises me.

Goooooood morning!

Still raining. Still cold. Little warmer than yesterday, but that isn't saying much.

Oookay...ya know, I've been complaining about the cold here in Vermont (it's only 45 or so out there this morning), but I guess it beats the alternative...

111°? Ouch!

My cats will be happy when it warms up enough that I can open the windows for 'em. They don't go outside, but they do like to sit in the window and sniff and watch traffic go by. Lately it's been wayyyyy too cold for that!

But, is it a dry heat?

But, is it a dry heat?

Very funny...but with THAT kinda heat, I think it's just a different cooking method - baked vs. steamed.

Miss Cat was sitting in the window yesterday evening. She was hanging out with the tomatoes this morning.

I gotta get me some of those...

One of the people who came for music last night is gonna give me some cages for 'mater plants. Now I just need to get the plants. Unfortunately, this week we'll be gone on Saturday morning, so I won't make the farmer's market...dunno when I'll be able to get plants, unless I can make it to a greenhouse sometime.
