Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...That none have seen but we alone.

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Hehehe. The local news guys keep saying to get one of those weather radios. I think it would be a waste of money. :)

Maybe you get one of those ones that vibrates the bed or something...for deaf people...

Although you probably need one that tosses you out of the bed.

--->ROFLOL at this mental image...

"Silent Running" was very MSTY-fiable. Bruce Dern's motivation was so crazy it made you sympathize with the bad guys; and that Joan Baez song was too much!

Some of the more expensive (meaning, I don't got one) alarms have "SAME" technology...you can program the counties you want to be alerted and the type....tornado, thunderstorm...warning or watch...

Mine goes off all the time for stuff I could care less about too...usually I keep it on the setting where it just makes a little sound then the guy starts talking. However, during tornado season, I keep it on siren and it's pretty loud.

I also press the siren when we're doing a "shelter in place" drill...

OT saw my shelter in place room!

It's a shame, but at least there's this...

They're cheap.

My Americaunas are going in with the big chickens tonight, see how they get along...I figure on waiting till it's almost dark then putting them in the chicken run and see if they'll go to bed with the big chickens...

we got the RIRs in a little enclosure inside the coop... we'll release them into the "general population" next week...

yeah, they're cheap, but it takes so long fer 'em tuh mature to producin' age...

Yep, loose one and it's a lot of wasted time and effort.

Puffy, the buff orpington, is the worst of our chickens...she pecks just for no reason that I can tell and really tears a chunk outa ya.

She lays massive eggs, though...big round speckled jobs. She's lucky she does.

I was talking to Steve about him taking the boys camping while I'm gone and Joshua just started bawling.

Ugh...walking away from them boys is gonna be the hardest thing I ever did! I've been away from Matthew 1.5 nights when Joshua was born, then the night that TTT came out, then the night that the ROTK came out. I've just been away from Joshua when the movies came out. And just overnight!

I was running down a bunch of things with Steve on the way home. Like you can't laze around when Joshua gets up in the morning...he's gotta eat immediately. You can even feed him twice, but you gotta get up and feed him right away, 'cause he's always starving in the morning.

And to put lotion on Joshua's bad skin spots...

Ugh!! I'm so excited, but I'm gonna be a wreck by the time I leave! lol

Heh, it's good for the boys to have some just-with-Dad time! They probably won't do any laundry and they'll have the strangest things for dinner, but they'll have fu, too.

I know! That's exactly what I keep telling myself. And especially with Steve gone so much over the last couple of semesters...they could all use some time together.

I'm very excited to get to go...I've already started packing!

I know what you mean... I'm excited about moving, it's six weeks still and I'm trying to pack something up every day!

Oh, but I wish I could be at the wedding.
