Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...That none have seen but we alone.
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I'm waiting for her to burst into flames any minute now.
To: Overtaxed
Wonder what would happen if someone threw holy water on her?

That was a really nice service.
I find myself incapable of imagining living a life that would put me in that kind of company, but I find myself a little jealous of the regular folk and soldiers whose life choices put them at the right place and time to have a little part to play in history. To be part of the honor guard, or the band that plays, or the stable hands that care for the honorary horses in the caisson would be a great experience.

Yeah...that was the picture I was looking for.

Wow.
I listened to it on the radio on the way from the client site to the office. It was pouring all the way. I nearly lost it once or twice.
The bells now sound so... lonely, even through the static on my radio...

And so, life goes on, the world a little more changed from what we knew in our youth.

Time for lunch.

The bells now sound so... lonely, even through the static on my radio...They sounded that way to me, too. The tone seemed like it was supposed to be uplifting but somehow it was still sombering. It was like my heart didn't want to accept that the funeral was over and he's not here anymore--that was how hearing the bells made me feel.

I envy you guys who remember Reagan. I have so few memories of him. I barely remember the end of the world's changing; I remember the USSR, and the Berlin Wall coming down, but they don't really have any meaning for me other than as history.
I guess that's what Reagan would have wanted. But I still feel like I'm missing a lot.

See you later all, we are headed first to the vet to get Gidget checked out... (she's been limping and it isn't getting better) and then to pick up my Dad's new blazer and head to the beach house.
We'll be back tonight :~D
