It was under Control Panel/Network Connections
Good night, Corin. I hope you have some luck getting that fixed later.
I recommend you see Unbreakable... it has a comic book/superhero theme that I think you'd like. Bruce Willis plays a man who discovers that he is, literally, unbreakable.
XP does have a firewall. To turn it off:
When you reinstalled the Tripod application, were you logged in as Administrator?
And how are the other accounts limited?
A Bruce Willis superhero movie? Sounds good! :)
OK, that's what I did. Still no change.
BTW - Tripod isn't an application. I just access my account on their website. I can either upload my own files or edit them there. I did that today from the office.
The other accounts are limited under XP. It give me the option of making them an Administrator or giving them a limited account. You'll recall Luke's "adventure" with deleting his Mom's account, thus his restrictions.
So far this only seems to be problem with the Tripod site. It's bizarre.
I gotta get some sleep tho. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll get back on this tomorrow night when I get home.
Ah, but less poignant and much more scarey...you get to see ME face to face.
Are you blocking Java somehow? Has Java been deleted from your system?
Can you get to another website that's all Java'ed up? Try clicking here. Is there a basketball game going on on the phone screen on the left?
Logging off soon; g'night, all!
Looking forward to all of it!
But dog-tired tonight. Cleaned 'round here all day. Hitting the couch, Good Night!
Oh, nuts.
Had to go back on the clock for a long time there... anybody still home?
I have a user in Afghanistan that is having trouble with a satellite ISP issue. He doesn't understand the basic issue that it is FREAKING MIRACLE that anything from over there works AT ALL, LET ALONE PERFECTLY...
[sigh} Swell... tell me again why I love this F@#^ing job?
Ten years ago we were lucky to have 386es on our desks!
Other than that, how goes it, Master Sea-Man?
it blows.
Sorry, was back on the clock for a bit longer than I expected. I just don't know all of the various internet routing problems that can happen between here and Kandahar or Allah-only-knows-where.
Lots of this stuff is whole new ground on both ends. So why is it my fault when it goes all sideways?
[sigh]
Even now, when a pager goes off, I get an adrenalin rush --- fight-or-fling!
You have Freepmail!
The "problem" is now quite unfortunately well known on both sides of this particular issue.
We have an easy fix, but the buttmunch in question refuses to pass it along to his clientele. So... it continues to be my problem. I have to now come up with a way for people to continue to ask for the wrong site, but yet end up at a corrected site, even though they didn't mean to.
No Problem. Can do that. No sense asking poeple to FREAKING ENTER A DIFFERENT URL in their browser.
Buttmunches are like that.
And DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED on the Afghanistan job.
Gosh... I feel a little more testy than usual.
What a stunning picture, especially with the reflection of the rainbow on the still water!
A good omen, indeed!
A dark room, nice atonal sound on the stereo ... maybe the noise of your boat sliding through the water? Sit in one of those massage chairs with your face pointed at the floor while someone walks knuckles up and down your vertebra. A little aromatherapy ... a shot glass of your favorite adult beverage sitting nearby ... and you'd be relaxed.
Hmmm ...!
I haven't heard that particular piece, but I think Ray Charles' version of "America the Beautiful" is the BEST!
That's terrific!!
