Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...That none have seen but we alone.
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Good morning, Hobbit Hole!
This morning I woke up to find it had cooled down to 50 overnight--after I had the air conditioning on last night--brrrr! Then in my inbox I had an email from a liberal relative with a Reagan-bashing article attached--grrrr. But on the up side of things, last night I finished the footnotes for the article I was working on, and I finished "Prisoner of Azkaban" :)
And now I feel like I'm not dressed for the occasion, so I'm looking for a grass skirt and some coconuts--or I suppose if I can't find one I could make my own outfit--can't be too hard, they always had them on "Gilligan's Island"; but then they had the Professor's advanced coconut technology. . .

Speaking of the weather.... email I just got from my Dad:
Was standing on the deck five minutes ago, looking at the dock and wondering how we're going to manage getting the boat out of the way, when it started to drizzle, which took my thoughts to what are we going to do with all those people if it rains? As I stood there looking at the dock and the boat and thinking about hoping it won't rain, I watched this come into view: I'm not generally into omen's but I'll take this one and run with it...

That's an omen if I've ever seen one. It has to be.
I'd have to look it up in my "Omen Desk Reference" to be sure, but I think that one means that there will be no catastrophic flood that drowns everyone. I'd take this as good news.

For some reason, that picture makes me want to sing about the rain in Spain. I wonder why?

Ok, it's lunchtime, I've got the office to myself - and I break out singing show tunes. Should I be worried?
