Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...That none have seen but we alone.
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Well, yes, but I have almost nothing except books. There'll be one box of knick-knacks, like my dragon collection and a few odd candles, a box of winter clothes, a box of summer clothes, a few housewares, and -
I estimate - twenty-five boxes of books.
Right now everything I own is in one room. My parents are donating some old furniture and I'm at garage sales looking for pots and such, but that's it.

How are you moving everything? Renting a U-Haul or something?
I had a rough time getting all my books back from Germany. Had to pay 'cause I was over my weight limit for the amount of stuff the military would pay for. I've pared down a lot of them since then, but still have a lot.
Wish you were closer! I have a whole set of nice Corelle (sp?) dishes I'd give ya. Four place settings, which is enough for a small apartment, in any case. Someone gave me a TON of dishes when I moved into my house, and I'm using that set instead.

Dad will be driving the uhaul for me. We're going to tow my car.
And I actually have a set of dishes... four settings. Plus a crockpot and a little grill, all graduation presents from friends and family.

So you're all set except for pans, then? Not bad!
I want to get a crockpot next time I have extra cash. I have one someone gave me, but it's so old that I'm nervous about using it. I did use it that one day and was paranoid about it the whole time. Silly, I suppose, but...

I just found out the trolls and Rasputin are not here today. I'm seriesly considering heading out early and driving up to DC. Am I correct that he will be in the Rotunda until they move him to the Cathedral tomorrow?

He'll be there, whether we can file through and view him is another matter. I don't know the answer tho.

Thing of it is, I really WANT to go. But I'm not sure I'm up to it. Yesterday was a long day and I'm feeling kinda crappy right now. When I consider that my arthritis is bad enough today that walking down the hall to the men's room is difficult...
'Course the bad thing is that I know what to do to make that better. Fitness dwarf has been vey bad lately.

Fitness dwarf has been vey bad lately. Fitness dwarf might just be thinking prudently. It was very hot yesterday- muggy and nasty. They treated 100+ people for heat injuries.

It's been hot and muggy here, too. Plus there's something I'm allergic to, and every time I exert myself, my throat starts to swell... ugh...

No, grass skirts and coconut-shell bras tend to have a lot of expansion room. ;-p
