Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...That none have seen but we alone.
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I'll let you know when we've sung it ;-) I do know one of the songs is "O Sacred Head Now Wounded" (it's a communion service) and I know the alto line of that by heart.
I'm getting waaaay too dressy here... the practice is at my old church with a lot of people who haven't seen me in a while and, er, never expected me to do half as well as I've done... now, where's that hat...

I bet that feels good! :) Do you have a special dress picked out?
now, where's that hat...
Sounds like an occasion for a boater hat! :)
I'm down to my last five or so footnotes here--whew! Gonna take a break for supper, so back in a bit. If I don't talk to you before you leave, have a nice time at choir!

Oh, I'm always alto.
Tonight is just jeans and a t-shirt, but way jazzed up. Tuesday will be the dress with the red flowers. Hehehe.
Girls don't wear boaters, silly! I've got a nice straw hat with a narrow brim and a ribbon. Very summery.

On HP, one thing I forgot I meant to mention is Nearly Headless Nick is really funny! I wish they'd put him in the movie more to take advantage of John Cleese's comedic talent.

Hey Jen, my son went to AKON in Dallas last weekend. Came back with all kinds of neat stuff. Lot's of autographs of people you probably know of but I don't. And lot of Pocky. Anybody ever heard of Pocky? Not bad stuff.

Hullo all. I've gone there and back again.
Mom's doing well. I'll give a full update later. I'm watching the ceremonies at the Capitol.

I posted this over on the prayer thread.
Thanks again to all for your prayers and words of encouragement. I drove to see my Mom today and was able to spend a few hours with her. She is miles ahead of where she was yesterday.
My brother said that when the doctor finally figured it out, he was almost giggling when he told them.
That said, pericarditis is nothing to sneeze at. She still needs prayers and recovery time. But she actually hopes to go home tomorrow after they run a few more tests.

What are your chances now of going down to the capital? - Was this your chance today or might you still go tomorrow?

I had to resign myself to not going. I considered driving to DC from my home town, but really can't do another day out of the office this week.
I did what I needed to do.
