Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...That none have seen but we alone.

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

What is the name of that website where you can track airplanes? I used it during entmoot...

I don't know which you used... but there are several of them, try them out: Google Search: flight tracker

Afternoon folks! Will be around for a few hours.

Naturally I have been thinking about the late President since Saturday. I worked on his 1968, 1976, 1980 and 1984 campaigns, which is one of the things I am proudest of in this life. This good thing about this sad time is that the many millions who were not around before 1988 now have the opportunity to learn more about what it means to have a truly great President, the only one in the adult lives of virtually everyone.

My dad is taking her to Austin to a museum tomorrow

Hey! Is she going to be here tomorrow?

In any case, safe journey... wish her a happy birthday from us! ;)

I think the replaying and discussion of all his great moments and words are a very positive thing for us to have right now. I am glad for the coverage.

Even the (rational) liberals place Mr. Reagan in the top 10 Presidents. I would judge him either the greatest President of the last century, or second only to FDR.

He's on the road to go see his mom. I wouldn't expect him back before the weekend, but he said he'd check in if he can.

Check caps lock!

Yes, he did skip DC... She had heart trouble and went to ER yesterday, and he was worried. The symptoms she is having very well may be related to her radiation treatments, and I think her condition is not as serious as they first thought, but it was important for him to go.

Hullo, in for a while! I have choir practice tonight - not church choir. Our big yearly denominational meeting - General Assembly - is in Pittsburgh this year, so local choirs were asked to send singers. It's next Tuesday. Will be fun.

So glad you finished PoA. That's the best of the HP books so far, IMHO. Now we can have excellent discussions!

And the work situation is going to be OKish after all. Thanks everyone for the prayers!
