Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...That none have seen but we alone.

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Much as I hated to see the Soviets win Gold Medals in the Olympics, I always loved hearing their national anthem. Did they keep the same one when the USSR came apart?

I think they kept the melody, but put new lyrics to it.

Ugh, I've got nearly an hour and I'm starved. I think the exercising has kicked my metabolism into gear, because I'm hungry all the time now.

I had a big handful of pistachios a little bit ago...but I'm certainly ready for lunch!

I'd give you some of my cheese sticks and celery...but I think it'd get there kinda late to help.

Having black bean soup with cheese for lunch.

It is raining here now. I think I might as well forget my outside plans... at least for a couple of hours. *sigh*

I'm having shrimp, from the big package last week, and then some popcorn for a snack this afternoon.

Last night I was so hungry that, around nine, I had to cook up an egg!

I usually have a snack right around nine. Otherwise, I can't sleep good.

Eggs...I need to boil half a dozen or so to have on hand for snacks this week. Good plain, or I can make a deviled egg as a snack whenever I want. Yum!

President Reagan inspired me to no end... he fired my interest in politics as a young teenager... he defined the optimism of a God fearing patriot... I will miss him...

He did this for me as well. I can only imagine the countless others...

gotta roadtrip tuh Springfield tomorrow... VA crap again...

You have my staff.

Oh - Rosie - I should be moving out to Colorado at the very beginning of August, and then I have orientation stuff on the 19th and 20th, with classes starting the next week. So, if you're coming to visit, I hope it's in between there because we'll have time for loads of fun.

Even if it's after classes start, if you can get there, I expect you to show up.

This was such neat reading. Especially the stuff about Black Jack.

Then, who was Animal? He was always a favorite of mine!

Hmmm, never thought about that! Ted Nugent, maybe? :) I also liked Dr. Teeth.

I'll do my best!

I still have to talk to that family again...find out if they were serious about letting me ride with 'em. And when they were going.

RWR to be accompanied by riderless horse named "Sgt. York" in DC funeral procession (photo) ^

Yeah - here is the thread too, for everyone else... I posted that page down a bit.

I saw a special on Animal Planet about the new official riderless horse and how he was chosen. He was a standardbred pacer off the track. This is now his only job. All the military funerals at Arlington and other places.
