Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...That none have seen but we alone.
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

We were overrun with squirrels and chipmunks for a while. That fox/bobcat pee that I ordered didn't really seem to help. But I got a pepper spray/wax from the garden center. That has kept the chipmunks off the plants. It's not harmful to humans.
Wife found a concoction online usin' cayenne pepper. Buyin' it in a bottle was easier.
Bought one of those weighted bird feeders for the squirrels. The birds can eat from it. But if a squirrel perches on it, he's too heavy and it closes up.
Gots birds. Don't gots squirrels and chipmunks.

President Reagan was my CINC, I'm proud to say. Me too...then I got B41, who sent me to Iraq and grew me up further than Basic and Bragg alone could have (I wouldn't trade those 6 months for anything...though I'm glad they're past). Then I got x42, who Farged up the whole concept, and then just to be mean, changed the 2-mile run time so instead of just makin' it, I blew it and got sent back to civvie street...
Oh well. At least we have W. Let's keep him.

I second the "let's keep W" bit. My first Presidential vote will be for him, in November.
Had things worked out a little differently, I'd have been an Air Force brat, so I do care about C-in-C and such. I can't imagine the troops want Kerry in that role.

I can't complain, sir. A little sad for the nation's loss, but my soul is celebrating Heaven's gain. :-)
Been missin' you all as well. The Hole's not the same without you and the mrs.

Fortunately there's only one red squirrel here who's a regular, so for the most part the birds get the food intended for them, though the turkeys manage to get first dibs over the other birds.

You don't remember Don Music? He'd bash his head on the keys when he got frustrated...Yeah, I remember, just took me a second to connect what you were talking about :) Don Music was hilarious, LOL! "I'll never get it, never!" [bash!] When I was little and taking piano lessons I'd do that sometimes and my Mom would yell at me, LOL!

Let's keep him. Agreed. I had Reagan when I enlisted, and then Bush41 for, what... a year or a little more when I left in 89. I'm thankful that I wasn't there during the X42 years. The buds that I stayed in contact with said that morale took a real down-turn in those years. No money, no purpose.
I think it is interesting that all of the criticisms of Bush today are merely carbon copies of the criticisms of Reagan in his time. History vindicated Reagan for demanding the fall of the Berlin wall when liberals thought he was loony. I think history will vindicate G.W. Bush for being right all along with regard to Iraq, the middle east, democracy, and yes... even WMD. The world really needs another term for him. His work is not yet done.
