New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Dang varmints know it's not deer season.
hehehe... no, never left. :-)
So how's things? saw the note about perk. Good thing.
"Soy'ooz neroosh'imi resp'ooblik svob'odnikh
Splot'ila nav'eki vel'ikaia Rus
Da zdr'avstvooyet sozdanni voley nar'odov
Yed'ini mog'oochi Sov'etski Soy'ooz
And the chorus:
Sl'avsa ot'echestvo n'ashe svob'odnoye
Dr'oojbi nar'odov nady'ojni opl'ot
P'artia L'enina, - s'ila narodnaya
Nas k torjestv'oo kommun'izma vedy'ot!
</Commie Pinko Bastidges>
LOL! That, and they're used to me :) They've been eating here the past year or so, and have gotten progressively less skittish around me, but they disappeared for a bit after turkey season started and the guns started going off again. They've been back the past week and seem to be starting to relax again.
*snickering*
You're the one passing your time over at DU. :-)
Things is okay. I'm the one of us not having to go to work r'member. :-) How about there? Work less stressful than workin' your tail off at home? :-)
Yeah, I was very relieved to hear from Perk. He is going to be close enough that Tom and he can have a visit when he gets back here.
It's like a car wreck....
Evening to you too! - Going up to the beach house tomorrow to meet with the pastor...
Good evening everyone!
JenB - congratulations, chica!
Woohoo!! Congrats on the good news, Jen!
That was my favorite scene in the movie. I actually like the Russian anthem, though I have no idea what the words mean.
Political differences notwithstanding... I (and I think I speak for most of my shipmates) always had a certain respect for our Russian adversaries. They were good sailors, and true enough... they had *great* looking ships. Russian heavy cruisers are some of the best looking boats around. Proper lines, those.
It's perhaps the basic kinship of sailors, dunno. But that's what drove the crew of the Glomar Challenger to provide a standard *Soviet* burial ceremony for the sailors brought up from that lost submarine. It was a nice touch.
I was also really affected by the loss of the Kursk. In anybody's Navy, that was a really really lousy way to go. For about a week afterward I was sure to tip a glass to the crew that I *just knew* were still alive for some days in that boat, with no hope. The skipper of the Kursk was on his sunset cruise before retirement. In many ways he was Ramius.
*Nozdrovie* :-)
Heh.... Ramius, you may be wishing you hadn't mentioned DU here in a minute! LOL
Hey Ruthy! Got that pile of papers on your desk all taken care of now? :-)
I think I already am. :-)
Sort of. *grin*
I got most of it done, but today another wave of paperwork came through and I'm back where I started. LOL!!
Thank you! It wasn't such a bad Monday, for once!
*scratching your back only to the right*
The Hymn of the Soviet Union
Unbreakable Union of freeborn Republics,
Great Russia has welded forever to stand.
Created in struggle by will of the people,
United and mighty, our Soviet land!
Sing to the Motherland, home of the free,
Bulwark of peoples in brotherhood strong.
O Party of Lenin, the strength of the people,
To Communism's triumph lead us on!
Through tempests the sunrays of freedom have cheered us,
Along the new path where great Lenin did lead.
To a righteous cause he raised up the peoples,
Inspired them to labor and valorous deed.
[Or, the old way:
Be true to the people, thus Stalin has reared us,
Inspire us to labor and valorous deed!]
Sing to the Motherland, home of the free,
Bulwark of peoples in brotherhood strong.
O Party of Lenin, the strength of the people,
To Communism's triumph lead us on!
In the vict'ry of Communism's deathless ideal,
We see the future of our dear land.
And to her fluttering scarlet banner,
Selflessly true we always shall stand!
I think that part means you have a job through the week Ruthy. Sad, but true! LOL
Interesting coincidence... listening to a filmscore internet radio station, and Hunt For Red October just came on.
*sigh* Don't remind me!
