New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, |
Still round the corner there may wait |
Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Thanks for the tea!
I gotta go get Joshua...bbl
Sneaksy.
Heh heh heh
AIEEEE!!! I'm out. Somebody get me a root canal to deaden the pain. I fergot to tell yuh this was a meeting to discuss plans fer the "real" meeting next week.
And no, Rasputin don't cook. I just had lunch from the vending machine.
That's good news!
Trying to remember who had mentioned this...
I think it's too late for THIS year, but next year I'm seriesly thinking of doing one o' them square foot gardens. It would fit my space perfectly, and let me use what little I have much more efficiently than I am now. I'm still not sure how I'll build the grid and all (I have zero carpentry skills), but I think it would work wonderfully if I could get it set up right!
For this year, I'll work on those few plants I have, and on getting a big enough level space to set up for next year. And on the herb garden, which I'm going to leave in the front of the house. Should have enough to tide me over, but I'm looking forward to planning out something more elaborate!
That's just WRONG.
Consider it done.
Check out the website (I fergit so Google "square foot gardening"). That should give you enough info to get started. And you can start anytime. You just plant different stuff.
You don't really need carpentry skills either.
Now they are moving the casket to the library lobby and playing Hail To The Chief, followed by God Bless America.
I love to watch this stuff.... ecurbh got a little moody and went to town.
Nancy following the casket in ~alone~ accompanied by a military protocol officer of some kind.
Lil, didn't you mention using cinder blocks to make your frame? How much do those run these days?
sigh...
The trouble is...I already have a few plants in where I would wanna do the garden. So...either I'd have to start over, or I'd have to dig 'em up and hope they survived the transplant. And I'd have to get the supplies - the soil mixture and all. So it's probably something to look forward to. But...I'd like to do it eventually, for sure!
Have you figured out whether you are going to go?
Then perhaps it's best to wait until after this growing season and plan for the next. The book would recommend you only need one 4x4 grid for a single person. That would give you at least 16 different plants. And, according to the book (I've yet to try it), the yield is higher.
Do they plant fall crops in Vermont? You might be in time to plant lettuce, turnips, and collards for this fall.
*chuckle*
That was pretty fairly sneaky..
I shall have to emulate this elsewhere.
I've never done vegetable gardening before, even of the normal sort...so I'm not really sure what works here. I could probably plant some things for the fall...think ahead. I'm not good at thinking ahead, but...
But I think I really should just wait until next year. But the idea of being able to have 16 different plants going in such a small space and with good yield is pretty exciting.
I'm watching it too. Tears just rolling down my face. I have such sympathy for Mrs. Reagan...she's been through a lot and you know it must be a sense of peace that he's no longer suffering but still, after so many years together...what a sense of loneliness she must feel.
I couldn't imagine loosing Steve after only 13 years together...how long have Ron and Nancy been together??
Yes, I'm going to drive up Wednesday after work and just stand in line for however long it takes. I may have a co-worker or two going with me. We'll see. In some ways I'd prefer to go by myself, but that's okay.
If they opt to leave the Metro running all night, I'll just drive to Springfield and take the train in. If not, I'll drive in to Union Station and park there if I can. That's only a couple of blocks.
It helps that I used to work there. So fortunately it's not intimidating for me like it is for some folk.
