Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...That none have seen but we alone.
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

My brother has a clip of the Torgo music saved somewhere.
Hard to believe movies like that were actually MADE and weren't supposed to be funny.

Seems to me burning the film deserves a better reward.True--how about a reward of a sampo, then? "What's a sampo?", you ask. . .

Do I really want to know? Why, I'm glad you asked! :) Sampo was an undefined Deus ex Machina from the Finnish poem "Kalevala" which appeared in the MSTYfied movie adaptation of the same The Day The Earth Froze, aka Sampo. Since the film version never bothered to tell us what sampo is, this led to the following debate on the nature of sampo:
*From 422 "The Day the Earth Froze": List of things Joel and the 'bots think a sampo might be:
Tom: A small taste of no-fat cheese at the grocery store.
Crow: A really good can-opener.
Tom: A strapless evening gown.
Joel: A hand-hammered conch belt with turquoise inlays used to accentuate an oversized blouse.
Crow: That dent between the nose and the lip.
Tom: Some sort of wrinkle cream.
Joel: A progressive new corporation with an eye towards the future. Sampo is a corporation for people by people.
Crow: Increases corn yields.
Tom: A nasty little rubber novelty item.
Crow: Something not tangible that's found in the laughter of children, roar of the tide, or the capacity to love and be loved.
Joel: A new, high energy prop comic.
Tom: Whatever it is, the U.S.A. still makes the best ones.
Crow: An exciting new fragrance by Prince Macciabelli.

List of exaggerated features that are scarier than Torgo's big knees: Joel: ...really huge forearms.
Tom: ...one big droopy pinky, and I'd drag it behind me.
Crow: ...one buttcheek that was WAY bigger than the other...
Tom: My head a canker, a big, giant canker, nothing but.
Joel: ...one really big flared nostril and inside would be lots of red matted hairs.
Crow: An ear that would cover me like a shroud and a thumb the size of a juggling pin, but not on my hand.
Tom: Nipples, many sizes, many shapes, some on my back.
Crow: A tongue the size of a sleeping bag and my fingers would fold the other way...
Joel: On my face, everything except no nose...not even holes...
Tom: My intestines on top of my head, where I would have to keep them greased.
Crow: I'd remove my skin, restitch it and wear it as a cardigan.
Tom: I would have a dulap (???)
